Title: Ipac ve / MameUI32 game selection problem
Post by: bwilson27 on February 01, 2011, 10:16:53 am
I have an I-Pac ve connected to my control board, using all the standard connections and settings.
In Mame, everything works great, except for one main issue; when Mame starts up and displays my games, I can use my joystick to scroll through the games, but there is no way to simply click and start a game. I can't figure out how to make my control panel start a game... I can only start a game by using a mouse... I've mapped the heck out of the controllers, and like I've said, EVERYTHING else works just fine.
How do I start a game without using a mouse?

Thank you.

Ok, I'll try to answer my own question here.
I know it's all about the shift key function, and Player 1, but for the life of me, I cannot get it to work.
I've been pulling my hair out for days now. I've put together the cabinet, the monitor, the control board... Everything... And this one little issue is keeping me from completion... Please. Someone must be able to help me out.

Oh, to heck with it. I'll just buy the I-pac2.

In interface set game selection via joystick and restart.   Make sure program is run as admin.   Now the joystick will select the game and enter will launch it.   No mouse needed.

So, in other words, The VE is incapable of starting a game with no keyboard or mouse assist.

If you don't believe me, try it yourself.

The ipac ve should be able to launch a game in MAMEUI32 because you have access to the enter key via the shift key [player 1 start]  and joystick left.  This is the default coding for the Ipac 2

Thanks for the replies, Bob. I had to do a bunch of clean-up on my computer, then straighten out the startup administrator... And yes, It finally works.
You were right, it had to be run under the correct admin.
Everything's working now. Yay!
