Hey guys, need your help with something. I've recently helped a friend upgrade his cabinet and while hooking up his monitor we noticed there wasn't any red signal getting to the monitor. I've adjusted the red drive and it looks like the monitor is capable of producing red (screen goes red) but there is no red on the images.
Here's the troubleshooting I've done so far:
Hooked the blue VGA lead into the red pinout on the board. No change.
Hooked the red VGA lead into the blue pinout. Blues work fine
Tested the VGA cable on a different monitor. Works fine.
Would a cap kit help this matter or is there a specific part that would cause the red signal to be lost between the input pins on the board to the screen?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide...
Doug

No.
it would help if you told us what monitor you are working on there though... :dunno
if you can get red, and the cable is good.... and the transistor is good...(since you can turn up the drive and get it... chances are there is an issue with the amplifier IC which sits in between... it will be the biggest IC on the neck board.. it will be an LM1203 or the like... they do go quite often. replacements can be had for about 5-10 bucks depending on your source.

Sorry, it's a WG 19K7203. I'm pretty good at installing cap kits, which components need to be replaced?
I've been dormant with this hobby for about 6 years, I get back to it and forget everything I've learned! Looks like you won't be able to get these CRT's after a while...

the neck boards on these monitors are REALLY bad. often suffering from multiple cracked joints. you can pretty much remove it and re-solder everything. but if you are still having issues, it might just be U301.
