Title: Hiscore issues - SOLVED
Post by: BigDaddyE on January 22, 2011, 10:11:12 am
Through the wonders of this board I was able to get my cab up and running, but with all things, up and running is never good enough, onto no nag and high score MAME!

I currently have MAME 0.140 no updates, with the ROMS to match.

Some folks in the community were able to help me compile a new MAME 0.140 exe with no nag / hiscore that match MAME 0.140.

The no nag works wonderfully, as does the hi score, kinda.

With hi score, the factory scores are wiped out, but when you place in a new high score, it is wiped out the minute ROMs are switched.

I have a "hiscoredat" file in the MAME folder, with the latest hi_dat folder from the site. I also have a folder named "hi" in the MAME folder. I have tried the "hi" folder in the "hiscoredat" folder also and this made no difference.

Before I posted this, I did a lot of reading and I saw a post that said the MAME folder cannot be "read only". I have spent the last 16 hrs attempting to get rid of this by making it a shared folder, removing by command prompt and also trying to remove through the registry, all with no luck. I have also seen a post that said the "read only" designation from windows can pretty much be discounted, since windows usually designates all files as read only.

Hoping someone out there has a solution or can see I have done something wrong with the folder layout.

Thanks.

Because I had the Hiscoredat file in a folder and not by itself in the MAME directory, the hiscore function would not work.

Took it out of the folder and everything is working just fine now!

Thanks for the input to help me out.
