Title: Looking for Steering wheels
Post by: menace on August 19, 2003, 11:20:09 am
For my next cab, I'm doing a dedicated driving mame cab and was wondering if anyone knows where to get arcade steering wheels (turbo, pole position, ivan stewart's off road, american speedway, etc. etc.)  I've searched the usual places -ebay google, and its very easy to find regular wheels for cars--but arcade ones seem more rare--any help always appreciated!

Happ Controls (http://www.happcontrols.com/index.html?http://www.happcontrols.com/driving/driving_amusement.htm!) (<- Direct link to Driving controls Page)

I'm sure there are a few others as well...

thanks for the link--however, like most happ stuff (buttons not included) their stuff tends to be on the pricey side--I'm think maybe a grant gt wheel from e-bay is about the best thing i've run across.

I ended up calling a few local rental places in town and asked if they sell used parts. If they didn't they gave me info on where they got thier parts from.

I got hooked up with a local guy in town who sells used parts and got 3 360 degree wheels for 45 bucks. Then all I did was go buy a regular 270 steering wheel from Fry's Electronics for 35 bucks....

I'm in the middle of planning out a mame driving cab now...I'm tryin' to find some sort of plans out there from an Ivan Stuart's machine to compare with my plans....

I'm always amazed how many people have the exact same idea as me on these boards ;D--Great minds right?  I too am looking for an ivan stewart to copy (or mame if its in horrible condition) and would like 2 or 3 identical steering wheels.  I don't suppose your local guy (wherever that is) does shipping hmm?

Yeah, ebay steering wheels go for real cheap, too!  (expensive shipping, though).  Just keep watching, they'll turn up.

For my driving cab, I got my Pole Position steering wheel and Spy Hunter Steering wheel on Ebay.  I got the Sega HangOn motorcycle assembly and Star Wars yoke from a local dealer.

For my Pole Position control panel (including wheel and shifter) I paid a total of $37 (that includes shipping cost)

For my Spy Hunter control panel (including wheel and shifter) I paid a total of $59 (that includes shipping).  The thing looks and works great.

For my Sega Hangon motorcycle assembly I got from a local vender I paid $5 total

For my Star Wars yoke from a local vender I paid $5 total.  (yes, this was the best deal I ever got.. since it worked and needed no fixing).  Too bad he only had one, or I would have bought many more...

(cue violin) this never happens to me :'(

I actually found some 10" go-kart steering wheels so i think im going to use those--as far as the yoke goes (which i still want) it looks like its going to be a BYOAC special for this guy.

For oyu racing guys--does anyone one know where to find a list of all the simultaneous 2 player driving games available to mame?  KLOV used to have an advanced search feature but it has been disabled i guess.  Thanks for the input.

2-palyer simulataneous driving games in mame .71
 Championship sprint
Ironman Stewart's offroad (love this game)
Max RPM
Redline racer
Super Sprint

And thats all i could find--makes me wonder if its worth putting two steering wheels on one cab

Also, most of the games in mame looked like 360 degree wheels does anyone know which ones are specifically 270 degree steering wheels?

The main and enough reasons for me as to purchase my Sprint 2 wheel control panel off eBay.  Like posted earlier you can get these for great prices but the shipping is a killer!
