Given the fact that Maximus Arcade is dying due to lack of support or future upgrades,
Any thoughts as to what frontend software you will be migrating to in the future for newer builds?
Perhaps you have been dabbling with a newer front end that you like with similar features of Maximus Arcade that you might want to share with us.
Ones I have seen are Hyperspin and GameEx. But, I have not tried them yet (not sure how hard setup is going to be etc.). Any thoughts are welcome as I have enjoyed using Maximus Arcade in the past. It is nice to hear from someone that has used Maximus arcade and switched over to something else.

I'm just now messing with MALA....

I've enjoyed AtomicFE, because it's pretty customizable. I've done a lot with it graphics-wise. It's not as flashy as Hyperspin, but if you're creative, you can do some great stuff with it.

he should probably make it open source so we the community can keep this great front end moving into the future.....thats if he doesnt plan on supporting it any longer

I have contacted the owner of Maximus about purchasing the rights to the software & website and hope to hear back soon. I can't make a substantial offer but maybe he will be ready to part with it at some point.

I've tried both Maximus arcade and MALA, and only dabbled in Hyperspin. Maximus is probably the easiest to set up IMHO, but the feel can be kind of bland and it's more awkward to skin. MALA is super easy to skin, but isn't very flashy and not quite as fool-proof as Maximis. Hyperspin looks simply amazing and has the 'ooh ahh' factor, but does has a steeper learning curve, and is definitely more resource-intensive than Maximus and MALA. Personally if Maximus could be worked on again by the community and be improved, updated, and brought up to speed with the other FE's then I would take a look at it again.

I have also tried many arcade frontends, Maximus, Hyperspin, Wahcade, AtomicFE... But I have always come back to Mala. Very easy to skin, takes a bit of a time to get used to, but definitely my choice, even if it does not have the eyecandy Hyperspin provides.

Would love to see MA open sourced or at least developed in some way, I really love everything about it.
