Please please please...
I have a T2 cabinet that i am looking at hooking into mame... does anyone know how/diagrams (am not the best electrician out there).

That's how mine is done.
Use the feedback motor part at your own risk. If the guns have solenoids instead, ignore it completely.
You need to swap out the potentiometers in the guns with 100k ones.
You can get a USB joystick port adapter off fleabay for $10, but you'll need two of them.
Buttons 3 and 4 can be wired up for coin and start.
(some gameports on old sound cards can handle two joysticks)
If I were in your position though, I'd buy an A-Pac from Ultimarc instead.

The potentiometers will be wired normally with it (using all three wires).
I'm not sure if you need to replace them with 100k ones or not with the A-Pac.
That would be a good question to ask Andy when you order.
The A-Pac will also give you a lot more buttons to work with, in case you want to add pause, etc.
Calibrate it in windows by pointing the gun to the edges of your screen. (control panel>game controllers)
Then SET THE JOYSTICK DEADZONE TO ZERO in MAME and calibrate it in the game's service menu.

Thanx heaps for the reply. Is a little cryptic for me as i am really really really not knowledgable regarding wiring etc. Does anyone have photos or breakdown of what each of the items on your diagram look like before/after?

You can use the 5k pots with the Apac. You might want to look at the UHID from Ultimarc as well. It can do Analog, Digital, Optical, and also LED output. It even has 5 volt outputs, so you could probably set it up using an LED output to trigger the motor. Like BadMouth said, be carefull trying to hook up the motor so you don't burn something out. I haven't tried to hook up a motor to an LED output yet, so I don't know for sure that it would work, but you should be able to trigger a relay with it.
When you are hooking up controls, a pot requires an analog interface (like the T2 gun), a trackball or spinner requires an optical interface, and anything with a microswitch or a leafspring uses a digital interface which can be either gamepad or keyboard based. The only ones really not covered there are rotary controllers and 49-way sticks. You can find specific encoders for those as well.

Im really sorry still - but i need this dumbed down heaps for me. I have no previous knowledge with electronics etc (sorry guys :'().
I have a wasted machine otherwise and i need this bad boy reserected. If possible can i just get a list of parts i need to buy, (extensive diagrams of wiring required).
Please please please.... i am begging now lol :banghead:

Dumbed down version: Buy a T2 PCB and use that instead.

The ipac doesn't support analog controls. You'd need an A-pac or u-hid.
