This is my second project announced here, but it was my first build and it is a MAME cabinet i did last summer.
In hindsight there is of course a lot of mistakes I have done, that I for sure would have done different today. I guess that is called experience by doing :P
As many of you will notice right away that it is out of proportion. The monitor area is way to big and the CP to low.
I was thinking about a CRT, but then you have to choose either vertical or horisontal, and I didn't want to exclude any of them.
And besides that I wanted also to run Visual Pinball.
Most of the stuff and parts I had on shelf back home, but you all know that any kind of budget is crashed anyway once you start the build...
I guess hte female on the sideart is familiar, and yes it is Yuna. Maybe not so "retro arcade" but it fitted my vision and theme after beeing vectorized.
Having a friend at a local print shop made things much easier of course, regarding printing and applying the print on the cabinet. Some discount as well :)
Feel free to comment and ask questions.

I ADORE your (side)art! What is the side-art made of? I'm always amazed when people post cabs here with full scale side-art, as I wasn't able to find a single printshop in my entire province that could/would make me full scale side-art. Some would, but then I'd have to order a minimum of 50 or they would charge me a couple 100€ for it...

Thanks for your kind feedback. In some ways I think the sideart is the best thing with this build. That is mostly the only reason for me not to scrap this cabinet and do a rebuild with all lessons learned.
The sideart is a self adhesive vinyl that is printed in this huge inkjet printer (refer to attaced picture) :)
And as I wrote before, he is my friend and I had at least a 50% discount so the official price is unknown to me.
These are the original pictures I used. Then recolored and vectorized etc...

thats a big printer alright.. i could see wanting to make a new cab from what you learn.. i too am already planing my second cab and not finish with the first. i just used posters and 3mm adhesive spray for my side art and it works great.. probably not as durable as the plastic stuff tho.. at any rate what im getting at, with s uch nice artwork, and the cab is really not bad at all from my eyes.. id say leave it and make a barttop, or a cocktail :)
thanks for sharing.
he probably charged you a few pennies above cost.

Exactly, many lessons learned are already implemented in my second build (a scaled down minicade, separate thread here somewhere).
Used the same print studio for sidearts by the way and still got that discount. At least I think so ;)
My next project would either be a pincade, coctail or as my recent thought of doing a scaled down SEGA (linked driving games) twin bartop cabinet. I would love to kick my friends ass in SEGA Rally or Datyona and the other lovely Model 2 games
Have been thinking of a jukebox project as well... so many ideas - so little time...
