Title: Should I use a router or a dremmel for this?
Post by: Hituro on January 10, 2011, 11:48:47 am
So, I'm hinging my control panel, and I need the continuous hinge plate, to be flush with the wood it's attaching to.  I'm including a picture, but basically I need to make a 5 mm groove on the edge of the board so that the plate sits flush, and then I can connect the other end of the hinge to the control panel.  I'm just not sure which tool would be appropriate for this.  Any suggestions?

So you're just out to make a 5mm groove on the edge of a rectangular piece of wood? In that case, use a router with a guide. I made a couple of similar grooves like that and they all turned out fantastic!

yeah,
thats really a job for a router. Just make sure you have some type of guide or jig.
practice on a piece of scrap first.
