Title: Help Powering my Ledwiz w/Pics
Post by: nakeworks on January 07, 2011, 11:44:07 am
So I'm ready to power up my LEDwiz and I am still confused after reading the directions.  Not that they aren't clear, its just that I'm slow  :dizzy: .  I am trying to power 26 led buttons with the LEDwiz.  I think I have to crimp and wire directly into the computer's power because the USB connection will not be enough.  Is that correct? Also, can I daisy chain the grounds into the one ground on the LEDwiz? The power for the LEDwiz is attached to the +5v slot on the LEDwiz right? And do I still need to hook the USB cord to my computer or is that if you are going to make the LEDs change colors or whatever?  Here are my photos:

Pic 2 is the wiring coming out the the Computer's Power
Pic 3 is the wiring going into the USB

what voltage are your lights?

You don't daisy chain the grounds, you daisy chain the power, the grounds go to the LED WIZ

Also, you don't connect the +5v to the +5v USB terminal.  That is there to access the +5v of the USB power.  The +5v would go to the Anode (+) side of your LED's or whatever device you are attempting to power.  It's also a good idea to chain it to the "Bank Select" terminals, but probably won't be necessary if you are just running LED's.
