Title: Another Info Window Related Bug (resolved)
Post by: markronz on January 07, 2011, 10:55:22 am
I think you added a fifth Definable object for MAME a while back in Mala.  However, if I go to the Info Window tab and look in the Image Type drop down box, there is no Definable 5 there.  See the attached screen shots to see what I mean.

Just looking at that screen shot. I've been trying to set up the info screen the same as in that example. Set up like that, what are you hoping to happen? Just trying to work out if I'm not understanding what its supposed to do, or if there's a bug...

well there's an info button in Mala. When you press it, it shows you the various different items of information about the game you currently have highlighted.

In the first screenshot, it just shows my MAME settings, where it points to all the various folders.

The second screenshot, it shows the configuration of the Info window.   The bug I reported was just that the 5th definable object was missing as an option.  But this screen just allows you to control what comes up and in what order when you press the Info button.

I'm not sure exactly what you were looking for in terms of an answer, but if you have more questions let me know!

Markronz,

I'm curious -- What are infoCards? I've never come across them in gathering Mame extras.

Oh.   :)   I exported all the control panel pictures from CPWizard.  So those are just my pictures that tell me what my individual controls do.   I couldn't think of what else to call those pictures.   I also have the original factory control panel pictures on the Info menu, so I didn't know what to refer to these CPWizard ones as.

I've never heard of CPWizard! It sounds cool. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!

Yeah check it out!  You can set it up to work when you pause MAME too.  Or to replace the info page in MaLa.  It's pretty cool if you can get it to work.  I have troubles getting it to work right personally.   But even still, you can export the images, so that's what I did.   Anyway, end sales pitch, it's definitely worth checking out.

I'll definitely use it to export the cp images at the very least!

Yeah, I knew about that. What I wanted to do is use the Info function to show general info pertaining to the cab operation. This is universal info that isn't different for each game. Things like: To browse menu, use joystick up/down.

Turns out it's not set up that way. I found a crude way around it though:

That makes sense.   Sucks you had to do a manual rename though.   It should be possible to write a script to do that sort of thing and eliminate the leg work.  Glad you got er done one way or another though.

It would easily be possible for someone who knew what they were doing :duckhunt
