Title: I need a custom marquee
Post by: MagicManPA on January 03, 2011, 03:42:54 pm
I will need a custom marquee shortly for my cabinet. I'm using an old Gunsmoke cab. I believe the dimensions are 23" x 6.5" (I'll check tonight to get the exact dimensions)

Looking to have a red/orange or red/yellow color scheme. I simply want the MAME logo across it with a few characters, such as Ken from Street Fighter II, Kabal & Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, Mario & Hagar from Final Fight.

Who can do this for a reasonable price & would it be better for me to have someone simply make the overlay & get a piece of glass or plexi myself & attach it to that or have someone do the graphic on that as well?

Something like this, but not as cluttered.

MagicMan,

My suggestion would be to get the graphic done.
Then sandwich between 2 pieces of plexi.
I've done this on a number of my cabs.
When it comes time to change them to something new, I take the artwork, frame it and hang it up.

I can do the design work for you as well as print it up on high-grade photo paper.
I have a professional plotter/printer I use.
I'm not doing any vinyl, translite or backlit as yet.
If you want it printed up on backlit, it would cost a bit more but you would want to use MameMarquees.
I can do the above for you for $30 shipped or $10 for just the the artwork shipped.

If interested, PM me.
I'll need a few more details from you.

John.

MagicMan,

Completely understand.
I "mis-typed" my last message though.
Meant to say, I can do the artwork for you for $10.
Then email to you, not "ship" it to you, if you'd like.

Eric -- Firebat138 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=profile;u=18718) -- did some design work for John.

Eric might have a copy, but I doubt it since it says here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,108315.msg1149475.html#msg1149475) that John did that one himself.   :dunno

Might be easier to just make your own from existing marquee and artwork files.

can you make one of these for me? something like 22x7, how much would that cost roughly?

:banghead:    Are you asking how much it costs for a marquee from beyond the digital grave?    :banghead:

Like Yotsuya mentioned, darkkniyt (John) hasn't been on for about 15 months.

No idea what happened or why, but John severed all contact with the forum, his customers, and his business partners.

He deleted almost all his posts then deleted his account -- hence the "guest" and no # of posts under his username.

Just before he dropped off the grid, I was working with him to get some custom artwork printed.

Everything was going geat and then he suddenly stopped answering e-mails.

Even Firebat138 (Eric) who worked with him closely has no idea what happened.

John's BasementArcadeGrafx.com website has also expired and reverted to a GoDaddy placeholder site.

John's digital presence as an art provider and printer is as dead as the parrot in the Monty Python sketch.

. . . or were you asking someone else to help and accidently used an unclear pronoun reference after quoting the "digitally departed"?
