Title: Setting Hyperspin controls with a Minipac???
Post by: LeedsFan on December 30, 2010, 06:48:50 pm
I've spent the last three hours trying to setup Hyperspin on my new project. It's running and launching emulators and games etc.... but I just cannot seem to find any way to alter the controls. I have to use the keyboard all the time. No matter what I do I cannot seem to alter the "launch" key from anything but Enter. I don't have an Enter key on my cab.

I tried to seek out the settings.ini file where there are supposedly flash ASCII setting for the keys.... but that settings.ini file is nowhere to be found. Every time I alter keys in the Main Menu Wizard of HyperHQ nothing I ever change gets saved. I tried to untick the Joystick1 option as I don't have a joystick (or gamepad) connected to the cab. Minipac is just a keyboard as such yes? All I want to do is use standard Minipac settings as my controls.  :banghead:

Well it seems it's not just Hyperspin. In Mame I seem to be missing Coin and Start for Player 1 as they are just listed as "n/a" in the TAB menu. No problem... I just edit them and all is fine. Until I exit the game and return later and everything is as it were. Nothing saved!  :banghead:

I cannot seem to make any alterations to anything at all. I've checked the .cfg and .ini files and they are not read only. But the folders they are in are marked as read only.  :dunno I'm using a brand new install of Windows 7. I can honestly say I've never had so much hassle trying to get a Front-End and now Mame itself working properly.  :dunno

Disable HyperLaunch for your MAME settings in HyperHQ.

Disable HyperLaunch for your MAME settings in HyperHQ.

Thank you so much!   This fixed the issue for me.  Just a question though... why does using HyperLaunch lock out the TAB settings in Mame? I don't see any benefit to that at all. Then again I'm a n00b at programming and software setup as you can see.  I also had to reassign all the Admin settings for folders and files etc. to change files from read only within Win7. I now have things working correctly.  :notworthy:

HyperLaunch doesn't lock out the TAB settings in MAME.  HyperLaunch causes emulators to force quit, IE: ALT+F4.  When exiting MAME via ALT+F4 causes MAME not to go through the close processes.  Since MAME is a command line application there is no need to use HyperLaunch with it.  HyperLaunch 2 will fix issues like this.
