I have a Syntax S746FX motherboard with an AMD 2600XP. I bought 512mb of 400 ram thinking the mobo could take it (it couldnt, it looked at the wrong one mobo....anyway wouldn't it detect the 400 at 333 instead? Cause it only detects 200??? And when I put 266 ram in it doesnt work at all.....I have not yet installed windows i am merely looking in the bios.
Also Arcade VGA from Ultimarc only works with an Arcade monitor right?

The specs show a 333 FSB but say that it will handle DDR 400 with limitations. Does the manual say anything about what those limitations are and whether those limits may be slot dependant? It says DDR400 is limited to 1 GB but not sure if they are talking DDR size or total for DDR400. Check and see if there are any special setups for DDR400 use in the BIOS.

Also, when you use memory modules that are pushing the limits of the motherboard, alot of times those modules can only be of a certain array. (ie: 64x64,32x8, etc.). Whereas you may not have such restrictions when using a smaller quantity mem module.

Well I dont understand why when I put ddr266 in it still registers at like 133....this is why i hate computers lol.

Oh and what about the arcadevga card?

... because DDR266 is 133Mhz ;D
DDR sends a signal on the raise and fall of the clock cycle ... hence the "Double Data" (2x 133MHz FSB = 266Mhz) ... unlike its predecessor SDRAM ... can you guess what the "S" stood for ;)
the limitations usually refers to the ablility for your RAM to even run at 200MHz (DDR400). What brand of memory did you buy ... that definite makes a difference ... if you buy cheap a

My memory brand is.....Mt or something with an M...I think its good cause thats what work uses and if its bad I can always go in a get a new one.
So if in Bios it says its running at 200mhz them I'm fine right cause its running at 400ddr actually?
Not sure about the other stuff, my friend is building it so Ill see what he says and post it okay.
