Title: San Diego SUCKS.
Post by: Mikezilla on December 16, 2010, 02:18:47 pm
I got 2 tickets a week ago, and I never received the courtesy notice in the mail, so I look online and lo and behold, 600 bucks for one, and 300 for the other. The first one was regarding me not stopping completely at a broken red light at a ---smurfy--- little "intersection" by my house. The other one was for a damn cell phone ticket that I should have just lied about. I was driving home and my mom called me to let me know that her eye surgery went well. 14 Seconds on the phone, tops. The first one really pisses me off though, I cant believe the freakin cop can sleep at night knowing he gave someone a ticket that is going to cost that much money. I wanted to Kaiser Soze his ass man I cant believe it. The thing too is, he was all nice and was acting sorry about it. Then they wonder why people get shot on the road in California. If I had a gun, I might have done it!!!

I havent been this mad in a long time. Seriously, it takes a lot to piss me off but jesus, this did the job just fine. ---fudgesicle--- California. Piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- state. Doesnt have any money so they try and leech it from the residents anyway they can. ---fudgesicle---.

:o Damn! That sucks big time. I'm really sorry to hear that, man. Those are incredibly expensive tickets as well. I guess I always assumed that a "California stop" was not a big deal in California.

Can you contest the tickets? Maybe you can at least get the amount reduced if you show up.

Not even close to how bad it is over here in downtown Fullerton.. I'm afraid to drive anywhere at night, my friends don't like driving to my place, my wife gets scared everytime we get pulled over..  I've been pulled over 3 times in one month before for the dumbest BS reasons..

First time I was being tailed by a cop car at night, seriously right on my bumper, so I put on my blinker and got over to the left lane, cop lit me up and said he pulled me over because I changed lanes too fast.. ran a check, found nothing, hava goodnight.

The next weekend in the same general area right by my place at night, I was approaching a red light and up ahead I noticed a cop was already waiting at the light to make a left turn.  I needed to make a right turn so I did the normal routine.. put on my blinker, stopped at the corner, didn't even look at the cop next to me or make eye contact, then proceeded to make the turn... well whata'yknow, the cop that was waiting to make a left turn decided to cut across 3 lanes to make a right turn and get right up on me.  As I'm pulling up in front of my garage about to get out of the car to open it, I get lit up again.  This time it's a female officer and said she pulled me over for accelerating around the corner too fast...............  ran my plate, license, etc. found nothing then told me to have a good night.

Then the very next weekend after that, at night again, I was taking a friend home and I get pulled over immediately after pulling out of my garage and out onto the street, told me he pulled me over b/c my license plate light bulb was too dim...  It's too dim!!!  How the flippin heck do you determine that??!  Your headlights are shining on my license plate when you're behind me!!  At this point I was pissed, and I let him know about being harrassed, and he straight up just admitted to me that right now they are just pulling people over looking for drunk drivers.

They've been pulling people over here randomly for some time now and it's happend to me, my wife, our  friends, neighbors..  This is ridiculous, I'm actually considering putting up a dash cam in my car to get this on film,  you guys gotta see this to believe it, the most ridiculous reasons ever just to say they had probable cause.  Total times pulled over for the year 2010: 6  and 1 of the times I actually got a fix it ticket.. for window tint being too dark... then the cops laughed at me when I went in the police department to get the ticket written off.  One of them said "Wow, you got a ticket for window tint alone, that's embarassing.. I didn't know we did that."

Seriously?

I remember getting a ticket in the USA in 1999 for parking in the wrong direction (on the left side) in a one-way street (how else can you park there  :laugh2: ). That was 10$. I asked them if there actually was a cheaper ticket. They said they had: 2.5$ for parking your wheels on the curbs.
Thinks have changed man! We get pissed at 150 euro for red-light and cell-phone use, but I understand that is peanuts now.

$195 for having a tinted license plate cover.

It was a dirty clear cover but the cop wouldnt listen to me.

it was a gift (and not illegal)

I fought the ticket and won, I gave the officer the cover in the court room.

See! SEE!!! Its cause youre in California! Drunk drivers ---my bottom---! They just want to take money from you, anyway they can! I swear to god. They just want to catch you on SOMETHING then BAM. Mother truckin ticket. Ugh. That sucks man, that would piss me off too.

I hired a lawyer Vigo to try and take care of my tickets for me. Its just a mess, I can afford to pay them, but its like dude, 1000 bucks?!? You know how much ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- I could buy for that much money?!

Here in Elk Grove, CA they now have Red Light cameras with video capacity for catching California Stops.  Your ticket comes in the mail with an internet link to the video in case you intend to protest the ticket.  My son got caught by that one.  Me I got caught by the Great Elk Grove Sting Operation.  They were paying kids to walk across the cross walks and driveways of stores and nailing people who did not wait until the kids completely crossed the street.  I was waiting on a 4 lane road and got ticketed because the kid was still in the last 2 feet of the fourth lane when I went.

I remember once they pulled me over and the cop was super nice, "Don't worry, we're not going to give you a ticket we just wanted to let you know that your rear left blinker is out" and in the meanwhile the other cop went on the other side, and was looking in to try and find something. He asked me to step out, the other cop pulled a little bag I had in my cup holder. He asked me to explain what it was. I said, "what's left of my trail mix" .. he saw the peanut and I was let go without a ticket.

Another time a cop flashed me, I had no idea why, (i was dusk) he pulled me over. Turns out I didn't have my lights on. He said what's wrong, shone the flashlight in my eyes to check if they were dilated too much (seriously?), searched my car.. found nothing. Gave me a ticket for driving without my lights on....

When I had my 95 camaro cops would tail me all the time, when i drove my dad's old van too. I remember once a bike cop started tailing me and I saw him. I was looking for parking, took a right on a yellow. He stopped me and said, "That was pretty close to red don't you think?", I said no.. he asked me what I was doing around there. I explained I was looking for parking for a concert, he then told me I could park at the VONS (a grocery story) parking lot, they never check at night.

One time in Illinois I received a seatbelt ticket right when a group of motorcyclists drove by without helmets.

See there is not a helmet requirement in that state...

So the government out there says going 70mph without a helmet holding nothing more than a damn glorified paperboy controller is safer than driving 35mph enclosed in a massive metal box with airbags if you fail to wear a seatbelt.

Eff the po lease

1 - Don't ever let cops search your car.

That ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- dont work, at least not in Delaware.

2 - Don't get pinballjim started on seat belt laws.

Yeah easy to say.. those guys are intimidating and will look for reasons get back at you if you piss them off. Look at that poor kid they shot in the back while he was on the floor on his stomach and handcuffed.

I would have thrown up with rage if that happened to me.

Hey.  At least your Chargers are making a run to the playoffs.  Their record certainly doesn't reflect what they're capable of.

California is a shithole.

Sister got a red-light camera ticket... $480.

I was pulled over going 10mph over the speed limit here in Idaho... $75.

:D

You gotta love Idaho.  My sister lives in Middleton and I threaten to stay forever every time I visit.  I got pulled over doing about 90mph on a back country road by a state trooper!  Looked over my CA license for a couple of seconds and told me that he expected me to slow down for the small town coming up in a couple miles and let me go without a citation. :D.  I'll be heading that way this spring for another visit.

F yeh it pisses me off.  It's almost the same flipping thing as something called a "bad stop".. or at least that's what they called it when I did Loss Prevention for Sears in the mall..  They were always getting our case about never making a stop on someone unless you are absolutely positive they have concealed something and you have uninterrupted surveilance, I guess because a bad stop could result in a lawsuit of some sort..  and yes I know the difference between cops and loss prevention.. but I mean damn, I was puttin my life on the line just like they do everytime I went out there to make a stop, had a druggy pull a Craftsman screwdriver on me and lunge at me.  Another time I had to use the hand irons and cuff a guy to the chair because he was goin crazy.  All I'm saying is it's b.s. that they just get to pull people over at random and make up something to say it's probable cause, and when they don't find anything and waste about 15 mins of your time they're just like "have a good night".. how embarassing is it when your neighbors see you pulled over and then 3 more cop cars show up for no reason and cause all kinds of traffic because they just park their car in the middle of the road with spotlights on you.

Texting while driving is now illegal in MA.  All cell phone use by teens while driving is illegal too.

Completely unenforceable.  I expect it to end up struck down the first time they pull over a Harvard professor who decides he has been unjustly oppressed.  Maybe it won't end up in Obama's front yard this time.

I just love listening/reading about people complaining about doing things they know are illegal.  I'm not a huge fan of red-light cameras, but at least around here (seattle) it's your own damn fault if you get a ticket at one.  They're VERY well signed and nearly all at very busy intersections.

Now, municipalities gouging on the fine, that's a different issue...

I've seen some go off when the person was taking a turn properly (the light was still yellow). We used to have an older neighbor who used to like to stand on the corner of a nearby busy street and watch all the errors the light would make, then he'd tell us about it. lol sorta funny, but he had a bunch of stories about that.
