Almost embarrassing really. But when you think about it, some kid right now is probably playing that game. In ten or fifteen years he's probably going to thing back and think, "gee, I'd like my own cab that looks just like that." Then we'll see him in here with his replica.

Yeah, I'm not usually openly critical, but they really need to do a CrapMAME II just for this cab.   It's one thing to build a cab for yourself that stays in the basement, but this dude built this knowing it was going to be displayed at a restaurant (and a news story on the interwebs).   The least he could have done was glance at a real cabinet before sawing and nailing.

But he also put his own game in there (not MAME) so I can't really sit here and criticize all that much....  :-[

He made it from spare IKEA furniture. There's probably only two pieces of IKEA furniture that look decent with a PC inside and one is only passable as a server rack. Apparently this wasn't one of them.

Well it's not THAT bad, but there are a few things that are just inexcusable.  The main on on the list is mounting the joystick over-top of the control panel.  This isn't even a rookie mistake it's a "I've never seen an arcade cabinet in my entire life and I'm too stupid to drill a hole in a piece of wood." mistake.  I can actually excuse the building materials because it does kind of have that "waffle house" motiff (ahh screw it, we're putting wood EVERYWHERE).  But things like the fact that the cabinet design/dimensions aren't built around the monitor they chose, which is the FUNDIMENTAL LAW of cabinet building (even though 50% of this board doesn't seem to know  ;) ) are just terrible.

I miss crap mame.  The problem is the hobby is going so main-stream these days most newbies buy prefab stuff.  I think somebody needs to make an "ikea mame" website that rips a new one in all those terribly designed "commerical" cabinets and control panels.
