Hootie hoo,
I've done it again I'm afraid... I jumped into decasing the TV I'm using for my project without thinking. The tv needed to be decased because it wouldn't fit otherwise. The speakers of the tv were in the case, so I just threw them out too without thinking about the consequences. Now that all is said and done, and the old case is thrown away, I realize I still needed the speakers after all. I do have a set of pc-speakers to get some sound out of my MAME-pc, but the tv will also be used as a console tv (I have multiple consoles hooked up to it). Now I get sound from MAME and my other emulators, but from the consoles I only get image but no sound (obviously). I tried splitting the cable from my pc-speakers and using the 3.5mm headphone jack as a audio output from the tv to the speakers, but that would result in VERY silent "sounds".
Any idea on how to fix this? :s Maybe so that I can still use the headphone jack as output?

Easiest way would be to buy a couple of cheap speakers and reconnect them to the wires in the TV.

That's what I figured, but then I checked the tv board for the connection it had with the old speakers. As it turns out, they were connected with a 4-pin connector on the tv-board. That means I have to find some way to solder 4 wires to those 4 pins OR desolder the whole connector on the motherboard. Both of those options seem near impossible :s.
The alternative would be to use the headphone jack and find some way to amplify that signal to normal sound levels. I thought that my speakerset would do just that, since it successfully plays my ipod music loudly. And an ipod signal is also ment to output to headphones... But that's not working obviously :s

OR
buy a replacement 4 pin connector, connect wires to it and then snap it on the motherboard to the existing 4-pin connector on there already. Then connect those wires you attached to some speakers you buy.

where would I get such a spare connector? Here in Belgium the electronic stores don't sell those connectors, and how do I know exactly what type it is?

Post a picture of the TV side of the connector and someone may be able to help you locate one.
