I see them on e-bay. They have 640x480 resolution. Is this a better option then a 4:3 lcd computer monitor with native 1600x1200 resolution?

To expand on my other post.. these screens will not look good. For one the screen door effect of the large rgb elements will not have the soft glow of phospher. Second they likely use one of the older lcd technologies that had slower response times leading to ghosting. Poor viewing angles are also a problem with these screens.
Going higher resolution and using scanline emulation with an upscaling effect will be much more visually pleasing.

Does anyone have one of these? Or has anyone used one?
I think I am going to go tft computer monitor, but this sure sounds tempting.

20 inch 4:3 640x480 TV's have the second worst image quality of all LCD's just after Airplane seat screens.
Contrast is 1:50 or so, and viewing angles are 2 degrees.
Next, composite input looks like it goes through a diarrhoea filter. Colors are getting brownish and unsaturated.
Pick the nice 1600x1200 IPS and PVA ones. And blocky LCD graphics kick CRT blurry phosphor crap ass IMO.
