Just modded my 4.3u Wii and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be... The HomeBrew Browser is awesome...
Anyone know of any really good HB Applications for the Wii?
-
Are you looking for stuff other than WiiWare? Are you setting games and apps up as channels?
-
Well I got some emulators on it going... Using the HomeBrew Browser, how do I get those to be channels?
-
wii is ok for the $. just that there are wayyyyy too many useless/crappy games. at this rate we'll have wii games about going to restroom.
WiiPii for only $39.99. reserve yours today! :dunno

At least the shake will become relevant to the game.

Dunno why everyone keeps banging on about that. Read some reviews and DON'T BUY THE CRAPPY GAMES

Gamestop has them for 100.... 7 days return no questions asked... I got Lego Indiana Jones and Sonic Unleased. My wife got WarioLand. I use to have one when they were new but sold it to fix my car. I had Red Steel, Mario Galaxy, and Paper Mario (the most noteworthy of what I had) and it was a lot of fun. I do think the Wii is over rated but not by much.

as per the other thread, you are immoral and this sounds illegal. /heh

I'm with you, buddy. There's crappy games on every system. The system that's SOLD THE MOST will HAVE THE MOST shovelware. Simple business common sense.
I'd love to have a PS3, but it just isn't in the cards for me. Got a 360 anyway. These "crappy games" arguments have lost their punch since everyone likes saying it.
To the OP, check out www.wiibrew.org (http://www.wiibrew.org). They've got a few good suggestions there.

I only think it matters if your SN is Malenko for some reason...

We are all going to hell!! >:D

I want to mod mine just to be able to put all our games on there, I HATE.... HATE changing discs, it feels so archaic, so I don't feel like there is anything illegal about loading my own games onto a HD and running them from there

You need to find or make the forwarder version of the wad so it will be a channel, gx is a good example of this.

As far as Homebrew games go, the only two I play are Yahtzii and Paradroid. And Yahtzii is pretty much for the wife.
Nobody gets Homebrew channel strictly for the homebrew games.... :duckhunt
-
Maybe not strictly, but there's a few gems in there.

Paradroid!? How did I miss that? I'll have to check it out.
-
90% of the things we do are illegal... what's one more?

Waggle tetris?
Decent tower defense game. Piero's WiiCross. Plasma Raketti.
Harmonium's a fun little time waster. For some reason, everything sounds good when you compose it.

I just had a not so pleasant experience modding a Wii. I was following a tutorial (which I won't link to just in case it contains something that could be deemed illegal) and everything was going great until somewhere around installing Priiloader. I'm not entirely sure what or where things went wrong but I ended up with "Error autobooting systemmenu" when I rebooted the Wii. Fortunately I was still able to get into Bootmii to reflash the nand backup that I had made. I had loaded up Bootmii and selected the flash option and it said something about it being unsafe because it was installed as an IOS and not boot2 (I had no choice since it's a brand new Wii) and that if it failed it would pretty much be bricked. So on the screen it says "Are you sure you want to continue, KONANMI." or "press Z to exit." So I laugh and hit up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, and it starts flashing!
Everything seems to be working now.
-
I've bricked mine temporarily when I tried re-virginizing my Wii. It happened to me also after installing Priiloader.
Reloaded the NAND, and all was fine. Got Priiloader on it, too.

I hear they got kick ass BBQ.

I hacked my bros wii about a year ago, and he hasn't recovered since! hah! (get it? hacked it off, cut.. nevermind)
ok ok
i hacked it a year ago and was wondering, has progress been made in the game launchers? I think the one we liked had gx in the title... can't remember. Is it worth upgrading? Can monster hunter 3 run on newer versions without using patches?
-
I use Wiiflow... awesome interface
-
thanks man
<_<
>_>

USB Loader GX is probably what you are referring to.
And yes, you should upgrade it. They've since added support to go back to the Loader menu, rather than the Wii Menu. Other finer tuning has been done as well.
edit:
Don't know about Monster Hunter Tri or whatever it is. No interest in it. Check gbatemp.net.

The latest version of USB Loader GX is good too. WiiFlow is also good I used to use that all the time.
Not sure about WiiFlow as I don't use it much anymore, but the latest version of USB Loader GX saves and reads the covers and applications/wads from HDD now as long as there is a FAT32 partition as the first active partition. That's how I set mine up and now I no longer need an SD card for my Wii. You will still need an SD card to hack a virgin Wii though.
