Scott from PA. I am new to the juke world but have been doing pins and vids for a few years. I bought a Juke for my basement and have a few questions. Thank you in advance for your time and answers!
Restoring a Rowe CD 100A Juke and have a few questions:
I am replacing the Amp output transisters...what is that white greese looking stuff and what is it for under them connecting to the heat sink and how should I install the new ones?
How does the juke keep memory when powered down and unplugged. How long can it be powered down and save memory?
Speaker wires...what is the difference between hooking them to E7 or E6 on both channels and which do you use and why in home?
How do you know if a crossover isn't working correctly? How do they fail?
What are the 2 Power transistors 2N6055 for in the main power supply where the cord comes into the Juke? They are not wired to anything...just have connectors.
And the last question. I did a reprogram of the Juke entered "30" and hit popular and only inserted 1 disk. It took a while 40 minutes or so but it seemed to never stop going thru the empty slots. I enter a song from that disk and it works fine....I enter another disk and it says not available. But if nothing is entered it stops at locations without disks and picks nothing up loads it and the tries to read the cd that isn't there....
Is this some sort of mode that automatically plays disks if none were entered? and why would it go to empty slots to search disks it knows are not there.

One other thing is that the central control computor in my Juke had a post it note stuck to it saying 100B while the juke is a 100A. I looked at the manuals for both and it looks like they use the same central control computor. Is that true? Are they interchangable?

Hi Scott,
I have seen that you posted this message to a number of jukebox sites and have received a number of replies.
The white paste is thermal paste to help the heat transfer to the heatsinks, there is always an insulator on the transistor, so put the paste at each side of the insulator.
With regards to the two transisors on the power supply the molex connectors go to pins on the printed circuit board of the power supply, it does not matter which connector goes to which but the reach of the cable will dictate which goes to which.
The CCC is interchangable on a number of CD models, it will show you in your manual what can be used.
The CCC will have a battery on the circiut board on your CCC it will be a 3 volt cell.
It is a good policy not to run on the highest tappings on the output package especially if you also have extention speakers connected to the ouput package. So only connect to the E7 connection if you have to.

I did post on one other site. I am new to the Juke world and didn't know where to turn so I tried two sites. You were the first I beleive to comment on the transistors
Thank you for the answers....The transistors on the power supply have me stumped. i will have to go back into the supply, but I did not see pins in there that the molex connectors could go to??? There is only one board in the supply so I guess I need to look closer. I was wondering if they were there for different voltages other then the 120 used in the US. I was thinking maybe they were for other voltages and 50Hz.???
So do you think the E6 is where I should tap or lower? It will be in a 20x35' room. Bar / pool table / two vid's etc.

If your machine has a CDM12, CDPRO, or CDPRO2 player in it, then you have a replacement power supply board inside the power transformer/power supply assembly on the back wall of the jukebox. The replacement power supply circuit board does not use those two transistors and has no place to plug them in. The original power supply board did use those transistors and they plugged into the old board.
