So I'm not much of an artist, but I'm trying to put together my CP and Marquee artwork for a general MAME cab. Kind of going for a classic space theme.
CP art:

The red CP outline is for reference. Not sure if I'll change that to a less noticeable gray that will be trimmed out or just get rid of it completely for printing.

Marquee:

I really like how the letters came out, but I'm not sure it goes well enough with the rest of the artwork. It's a Star Wars and Simpson's reference (fan of both) but I'm not even positive I'll keep the name. But then, I don't have a better idea right now. I tried to tie things together using elements from the CP. Not sure if I should add a few more things or keep it more simple.
Opinions, thoughts welcome. Hopefully from someone with a better eye for art and composition that I do. ;)

I like your CP and Marquee,
I personally would go with something more like this, a little more retro font, and use a darker shade of the yellow
IMHO
-
I see what you mean about the font. I tried a few more:

But I'm still having trouble finding the right font. Any suggestions on a .TTF that has a retro space / arcade look?
-
I like the top one, on the three. And I think, again, imho, that you should use a duller yellow, like the yellow in the CP, and also maybe have ir fade to a red, to tie in the red from the CP as well?
-
Hmmmm. I thought I was using a duller yellow - I'll have to see if I can add some red. But I'm really just punching random buttons in Inkscape here ;). I like the top one myself (of the choices), but do you have any other font suggestions?
-
OK, i found the eyedropper tool. How's this for color?

SammyWI,
I like the original marquee as it was in the first post. Just my 2c.
-
Thanks Flashiv. I think I'll mess around with things some more. Maybe ask some guys at work what they think.
-
I actually prefer the first version as well.
-
A couple of more tries. The opinion around work was for the first font. I tried toning down the color and centered both lines. Also tried a second name.

What do you guys think?

The CPO and last Arcade Wars rock. I wouldnt mind getting the eps file of the CPO if you happen to be in a giving mood. ;D

sean-o-mac, Marsupial: No problem, IM me your emails and I'd be happy send you a file. I'm using Inkscape which uses .SVG files as it's native format. It can save as .EPS format, but I don't know if it loses anything in the process.
I'm still playing with the CP a bit, trying to add a glow or maybe a lens flare around the trackball, but you're welcome to what I have.
-
A little update to the CP. I added some flare around the trackball.

I don't think I have anything that reads SVG files, so I guess EPS would be awesome.
It would be great if you could ship this to my email addy:

thanks a lot :D

Well, Inkscape doesn't seem to save to EPS correctly. But I did find a website that converts files for free:
http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-eps (http://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-eps)
But I can't view EPS files to find out if it works!

I put together some 3d renders to se how things will look on the cab. For some reason the star background doesn't show up well but other that that, I think it looks pretty good. ;D
