Title: Holy CRAP this is a good deal on a good MAME PC
Post by: smalltownguy on November 30, 2010, 01:28:15 pm
Check out THIS deal today on 1 sale a day....

That P4 3.0 HT should run most games in MAME without too much trouble at all. And a 19" LCD monitor included -- all for under $300?? Crazy.

I just got the e-blast about 15 minutes ago, and it took me that long to check out. The website kept throwing up "server busy" errors.

Good luck!

19" 4:3 aspect LCD monitor: $100
Mouse, keyboard: $20
Shipping (free): $50

That makes the PC itself $130. You could drop in a P4 3.4HT ($20 on the 'bay) in there (fastest HT CPU available for that chipset) and you'd have a mobo that would play/run 90% of the games available for MAME.

Forget about dual core, core2duo, and core2quad, they don't do jack squat more for MAME.

The P4 HT family is easily the best affordable intel processor series available for running MAME. (not including the i3/i5/i7 family)

Ug. The old Dell Business PC "Standard". I have one of these at work already, I wouldn't want another one based on pure spite against that infernal machine.  :banghead:

Not saying it doesn't have potienal, but for a refurb, these machines probably have been left on 24/7 for more than a few years, and then dropped off of the desk a couple times by a disgrunteled accountant.

those dell boards have an issue with the USB freezing up on them. we have 3 here at work and they are sitting on a shelf. bought them as goverment surplus ($60 for the 3 CPUs no HD's)

i always build mine from ascendtech.us.

whatever you want is completely customizable from the ground up, and you dont have to buy anything extra. the final price is always good too.
