Title: Keyboard "sticking" in shooters
Post by: Damocles on August 15, 2003, 07:00:26 am
Frequently when i'm playing a shooter in Mame, my character will sporadically continue in a given direction, even after the key is let up.  I've tried slowing down the kb repeat rate, but to no avail.  This only happens when using the keyboard.  Anyone have any ideas as to what's up?  I'm running Mame v.72

Are you using a USB keyboard?   They don't seem to get along with keyboard encoders.  A passthru on the encoder works better with a PS/2 type keyboard.

Just a guess.

Nope.  Both the USB and PS2 keyboards have this problem.

This only happens when using the keyboard.

What do you use with Mame that does not give you problems?

As a test I tried out my Sidewinder gamepad again (which I had been using till I finally got a dual joystick setup), and encountered no problems with it.
