Title: hi there from a new user
Post by: emu002 on November 28, 2010, 04:27:24 pm
Hi there

Just purchased my first arcade machine last week and can feel the addiction kicking in already )

It was an old silver star unit with an original capcom final fight board
Bringin back many old memories from 20 years ago

I keep looking at auction sites for other cabinets now too ) and have been researching building my own mame machine

Well the cab was absolutely filthy - i think it had been living in a kebab shop judging by the grease and paint spills all over it

6 hours calening later its a lot better - the screen was totally black with filth, im suprised you could see the picture

Other than one loose wire on the coin mech that i have fixed it is in full working order

It's not much to photograph as it is only a silver star generic cabinet but looking inside the jamma board has capcom printed on the board so i assume its not a copy

I'm hoping to print up some final fight artwork to spruce it up (i work at a printers), been searching for days on the net for some hi-res without any luck til i saw a post in here in the artwork section, fingers crossed i can get the artwork soon

I can take a few pic tomorrow if you really wanna see?

You can appreciate a good job more when you see how bad it started.

I have no idea what a "silver star" cabinet is (and I've been around the block a few times). So post photos anyways. ;-)

yeah, please post pics.  especially if you plan on fixing up the cabinet, it is cool to see where it started from.

Nice. It has a certain casino flavour. You should put a poker game in there. Final Fight doesn't suit it. ;-)

Now you come to mention it yes it does look like a gambler  :D

I would rather change the look of the cabinet to match the game inside )

Next on the list is to convert it to 6 buttons for other fighting games (yes I know final fight only uses 3 buttons)
And to get some final fight artwork printed

Mainly from the buttons I'd guess. I can't imagine playing arcade games with those....and an upright casino game seems outright weird.

yep by the time you get to the end of final fight your hands are aching from pressing those giant buttons  :lol
