I just ordered a piece of tempered tinted glass for my cab and I ordered to 1/8" narrower than the opening all the way around just to be on the safe side and I'm wondering how everyone frames out around there glass. I was thinking about using black caulk but I realized that it would be a huge pain to clean up the painted surfaces without damaging them if I ever needed to remove the glass for any reason

Ive been thinking about this too and a couple of ideas I came up with was first to apply some adhesive velcro to the back of the glass and fix it that way for easy removal if needed (this on mine would not be visible as I would paint the rear of the glass around the monitor non visible area) or some form of runner like a smaller marquee mount could be used for the lower edge and then some form of retainer such as a household mirror edge mount could be mounted in the top corners to hold the glass? either way i feel it would definatly need to be removable for maintenance etc. Im new to this but any other ideas Im interested in too :)

I plan on doing mine like knievel did with his evolution. Basically there is a dado in the speaker panel piece that the glass/plexi slides into. You slide the glass up into this slot and push the bottom of it over some lip that holds it in place. This way the glass is removable yet there are no gaps in the top or the bottom.
As far as gaps on the sides, I'm not exactly sure how to fill those gaps but I'm hoping I can get my glass cut just right so that it isn't a problem. Maybe some kind of very thin molding could work. I dunno. :dunno

I remember that I was going to do that when I buile my cab a year agio but I think I forgot about it until it was to late. So now I am trying to figure out some kind of small trim under 1/4 that would hide the edges. like I had said I tyhink that black Caulk would look great but if i ever had to remove the glass for any reason I wouldnt be able to get it cleaned off of the painted surface without needing to repaint

You could always use weatherstripping tape on the sides.
