Just saw this tonight. If like me, you were disappointed with The Expendables, Machete is the cure! Machete is an ex federal agent from mexico, who is now an illegal immigrant in Texas. He gets caught up in a conspiracy and all hell breaks loose.
I'm pretty sure this is Danny Trejos first lead role. And he fits the bill. This guy is my favourite hard-ass. I mean, he could kick Chuck Norris to death with his little toe while eating breakfast and reading the morning paper. Not that he would bother with reading the morning paper, because no doubt he could have a hot chick read it for him!
Enough gushing about Trejo. Great support cast too, including Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez (is she related to Robert?), Don Johnson and Robert De Niro. Even people I don't like, like Steven Sea gull are great in this. And people I don't know anything about other than tabloid trash news like Lindsay Lohan. I don't believe I've ever actually seen her in a movie. You get to see her boobies in this movie too by the way, if you haven't already in other media.
Cheech Marin appears although I always expect him to be hilarious, which he's not supposed to be here. Tom Savini appears too as 1800-HITMAN. I always get a kick out of seeing him in movies. for those that don't know, he's a pioneering makeup artist, who through being a war photographer in Vietnam applied what he had seen to horror movies like Dawn of the Dead and Friday the 13th. Which is why at the time they were so ground breaking. To my shame I have never seen Dawn of the Dead. You might remember him as the dude with the cod-piece gun in that awful movie "from dusk til Dawn".
Anyway, I get the feeling Machete was released here a lot later than the US, so it's probably stopped screening there now. But if you get a chance, check it out (",)

Maybe you missed the humor. Though he gets the more serious scenes of the movie, they're ALL played for laughs.

Awful? FDTD is great. I consider it the first of the Grindhouse series. KNB effects, awesome 180° story turn, Tarantino script, great cast....I love it. Full Tilt Boogie is also a great documentary.
As for Machete, I loved it.

For shame!!! That film was the one that started my love for Z' movies. Romero did a groundbreaking job on that one. I suggest you get on it and watch it and then write a review here!

Lindsay doesn't have any actual nudity in this movie
In the church, her hair is covering her, but it does move and you definitely see nipple.
In the water scene, yeah, body double.

I enjoyed FDTD... All of the above Ginsu mentioned plus, uh SALMA HAYEK?!?! Even George Clooney was cool in it. Probably one of his best roles. Stupid body double. I used to love Jessica Alba, but then she got too skinny, and then had a kid. Her body is probably trash anyway. :'(

No, you definitely do not see nipple.
I beg to differ.

Oh yes, he was funny, but not hilarious. Things like when he offers his brother Cuban cigars. "Got any mexican?" :D I get it. It wasn't hilarious is all.

Well, it was the 180 degee turnaround that I didn't like. It was like I was watching one movie, and then someone had slipped in another tape when I glanced away. That's not clever in my books. That's just grafting two unrelated movies together. Cast was great like you say. Anyway, glad we agree on Machete (",)
