Trying to decide which version of win7 to get for my mame PC.  I'll get the 64bit, but I keep getting hung up on whether or not I'd actually use the xp mode for anything.

Has anyone here run into a need for xp mode?  <edit>If so, what are some examples</edit>

Thanks to everyone that answered.

Which win7 for mame and steam?

Yes, I've run across a couple pieces of software that's needed to be run in XP compatibility mode.

It's slow, so on a MAME PC I can't imagine what you'd ever use it for. You're not going to run games or an emulator in XP mode.

I picked up a copy of VMWare desktop years ago and have upgraded it ever since. I use it for running any older stuff under 64bit Win7 (and Vista 64 before that).

The snapshot feature of VMWare alone is worth the money

Thanks folks!

Any opinion on which version of win7 you need for an arcade pc?  I might install some vertical shooters on it or other games from steam.
