I don't know if this has been discussed before. My search didn't bring up something like that.
I have turned a generic cab into a Mame machine for a friend. When starting the frontend MALA starts playing MP3-files in random order. Now he asked if it is possible that Mala doesn't begin from the start but continues at the song where it stopped. I guess Mala will simplay look into the MP3 directory and then play them in random order (if configured that way).
So here's my suggestion (maybe as an option):
Mala creates a random playlist from the available songs and saves it. Now it starts playing the first song, then the second and so on. When a song has been played it is removed from the playlist (playlist still in memory). On shutting down MALA it saves the playlist with the remaining songs (maybe it would be better that it is saved whenever a song was removed)
Now Mala is restarted, looks at the playlist and continues with the next song that has not been played yet. If the playlist is empty on a restart it is created again in random sort order.
Any comments on that?
To be honest....such a function wouldn't be useful to me (I don#t use the MP3-playback at all) but maybe for enough other people :)
Thanks alot for reading :)

Hi,
Probably while you were setting up MaLa and changing up settings this became your thoughts. I know when testing/developing MaLa and I have music on it annoys me sometimes that the song I was just listening to does not resume.
But I think in practice (normal use) the next time you go to restart MaLa nobody will remember what the last song was randomly played (or where it was up to) so it will not be an issue. ;D

Sorry...have not been around lateley :(
I asked my friend and he said that he sometimes starts the cab wthout playing just to have the music. It really seems that he doesn't have a radio/cd-Player around :dunno
So I think it would make sense to tell Mala to play a playlist in random order and to remove the songs (from a copy of the playlist) that have been played so they don't come again the next time I start the cab and the music. When all songs have been played re-load the original playlist and start playing the songs again.
Loadman, I know that this might be used by 100% of the Mala users but maybe it's possible to do :) :notworthy:
Merry Christmas!! :)

I will ponder ;D

I thought about is some more and I think he would be happier to just load iTunes on his cab. It would give hime WAY more options.
He could still use the same tracks that MaLA can see.

Well, to be honest, he is not very familiar with computers and Mala is started automatically and starts playing the songs in the directory. Every time he wants to add new songs he calls me and we do it step by step ;)
But I understand that you don't want to put effort in that since not many users would use it.
Thanks for considering anyway! :)
