Title: Mirrored front end for Space Invaders cabinet???
Post by: ArtMAME on November 03, 2010, 09:52:08 am
Does anybody know if there is a front-end that will do flip + mirror?

I can do it with MAME and the games play fine, but I have tried it with MALA and I can only get to flip up/down when in vertical orientation.

I have a Space Invaders cabinet that I put a stock PC monitor in (vertical orientation), no decasing.  I could just swap the yoke wires to get the correct orientation on the mirror, but that would mean having to remove the montior, decase, swap, then re-case, and re-install.

I have it nice and secure in there but it is a pain to handle so I wanted to find a software solution for the front-end.

I love MALA but it can only do switch horiz/vert and flip upside down.  I really need to also flip the side to side.

Maximus Arcade supports this (# 7 in the diagram):

IIRC the creator of Maximus Arcade had a Space Invaders cabinet:

Thanks for the replies guys.

I tried the Maximus Arcade but kept getting the "index out of range script error" message.

I just went ahead and de-cased the monitor, flipped the yoke connector, and put it back together. Works great now.

I think I will try the Maximus Arcade front-end later on my personal MAME cabinet when I have more time to tweak it.
