Title: Rom update from 119 to 140 possible?

Hi all,

I'm having trouble updating my roms from .119 to .140.  CLRMAMEpro keeps crashing during the scan and fix.  Are these rom versions too far away from each other to update properly?

I've tried the following:

ClrMAMEpro 3.136 64 bit using .140 mame64.exe to create .dat file (In Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS)
ClrMAMEpro 3.136 32 bit using .140 mamepp.exe to create .dat file (In Windows XP Pro 32-bit OS)

I had the same problem going from 120 to 139! It would crash! However, if I unchecked the fix "unneeded files" box, it would scan and fix ok. Let me know if that works for you, and if anyone has any clue as to why it crashes, I would love to know

Also, I tried another program called ROMVAULT and it worked great, except it didn't recognize the .140 dat for some reason.  So it only updated from whatever dats came with the ROMVAULT program.  Is ROMVAULT just as good CLRMAMEPRO?

Last but not least, when updating, I have my zipped roms in a folder called roms and my CHDs in subfolders inside of the rom folder.  Do I scan the whole thing?  Are CHDs updated by CLRMAMEPRO too or just the smaller zipped roms?

First major update for me so thanks in advance for your patience.

Use CHDman for your CHD's.

So I decided to give up on this and just attain .140 full set instead.  Trying to fill in all the holes from .119 to .140 proved cumbersome to say the least.  They were just too many updates in between.

Lesson learned... keep up with the incremental updates from now on.  :)

Thank all for you help with this.  On the bright side, I learned CLRMAMEPRO (finally).  :)

Did you figure out while it was crashing?
