I can get a working one for $250.oo but dunno if that's too much or a good deal.
-
My faviroute game, get it!!
Worth getting in my opinion!
Its not as playable on mame, because you dont have the rotating sticks! makes it difficult to shoot at angles!
-
i loved the game growing up, and I would never MAME a cab like this. I just didn't know if 250.oo was too much money
-
if its working fine, and in good shape... (sidearts, controls..etc) and if you can afford it....
I can't see why not ??!?!!...
it is a good game....
;) ;D ;) ;D

i agree with hiyu, $250 sounds ok. not a great deal but a fair price, given the condition is there. check art, cp,marquee, and etc. just make sure everything looks good. it will probably be dirty, look beyond that and make sure nothing us fubar'd. also check for water damage at the base.
iw is a great game and while it's not impossible to recreate properly in mame, it's kinda expensive to do so. which, in my book, is a good reaon to get ahold of an original cabinet. it's nice to hear you'll keep it unmolested if you get it.
oh yeah, see if you can talk the price down a little. offer $200, then $225, ya never know.

I would get it just for the Ikari Warriors.
Is it possible to keep it original and *add* the mame side to it? What I mean is, can you add the mame piece to it withoug gutting the cab and leaving the orignal pcb intact and operational? It would be kinda cool to have a dedicated rotary cab. I wouldn't mod it if it meant trashing the original though....

wow! That's the same one (same location so i am assuming this). I didn't even see it on EBay... he also has a Shinobi. I'm going to try and get both for $400.oo

So I went and looked at the Ikari Warriors and Shinobi tonight. This was my first experience looking into buying some real games.
Shinobi: was in an old Stargate cab. you could see the old design on the side of the cab. The monitor was burned badly IMO. the EBAY ad said NO burn-in. ::) It was also a vertical monitor turned horizontal so the burn-in was sideways (different game..couldn't make it out). The power supply was a new 'switched' power supply. I wasn't looking for authenticity on this one and I don't know the first thing asbout the old transformer power supplies or the new switched power supplies. it was a Jamma board. The cab was painted black and IMO sorta decent shape but chipped on the edges here and there. the T-molding was not in the best shape. The buttons were bleached out and cracked. The control panel was slapped in and cracked as well. The joystick was really loose and an 8 way which i'm sure was wrong for the game. The Joystick was stubby and had a really thick shaft. overall i thought the cab was ugly, but it did work correctly.
Ikari Warriors: This is why I went out there. The monitor had no burn in. The controls were worn but worked correctly. It looked like the original cab, or a well done conversion. It was painted black but had the side art and marquee. It had no bezel, but the glass was there. The cab itself had a large chip in the back edge near the top that someone just painted over. The bottom had water damage all around and was flaking apart. The T-molding actually had screws holding it to the bottom. Inside there was a hole in the bottom from water damage/rot that was the size of a half dollar and larger where the wood was partially gone. The coin mech was finicky, but would work. Not in as great of shape as I expected.
In the end I offered him $350.oo for both then $375.oo but he said no to both offers. he did show me his 'keepers' which were nice. Had some stuff I wish i could get, plus a nice 2 player mame machine. :)
I didn't buy them, but i think I'd be kicking myself if I paid over $375.oo for both. Being my first experience i am wondering how typical this was. You can see his EBAY auction link about 3 replies above this.
I am hoping I can get some cabs at the next Super Auctions in Long beach this october. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for cabs in better shape.
Please chime in with your opinions!
edit: it says "sold" on his auction, but it isn't... ???

Costa Mesa is next to Long Beach...
Long Beach..Hunnington Beach..Costa Mesa.. it's all the same to me. :)
But I'd really like to know if my experience was typical, or was the guy asking too much?

I paid $325 for my Ikari warriors from ebay. It is in PERFECT condition though.
Absolutely no blemishes. ;D
So I dont think you had a good deal anyway.
BUT: If you ever want to 'BEAT' IW then you have to own it!
I estimate I would have spent about $45 in quarters to get to the end!
Anyone else own an Ikari Warriors machine out there?
