Title: trackball and u360 not working well together.
Post by: M.Lanza on October 23, 2010, 03:10:57 pm
I know I've seen a post somewhere explaining how to fix this, but I can't seem to find it.

I have an ultrastick and a u-trak trackball.
When I try to play a trackball game, MAME makes both the trackball and u360 usable
on that game which causes interference and makes the game unplayable.

I'm assuming this is because both devices are registered as mice under windows.

I thought that there would be a plugin for mala or something that would tell mame to turn off
the joystick when a trackball game is selected, but I guess that's not the case.

Anyway, I know there has to be a way to fix this somehow, but I can't figure it out.

Ultrastiks are seen as "Ultrastik" in gamepad section of control panel. They are not seen as a mouse at all. What interface are you using? Optipac I assume?

Oops! It was kind of early when I typed that.
I must have thought that because the computers bios sees both of them as mice.

Anyway, it's a u-trak connected with the usb adapter.

i've noticed this too...although it hasnt really caused any performance issues.  i probably wouldn't have noticed it at all, but when playing world class bolwing with my 3 year old, he tried using the joystick and the ball went shooting down the lane really fast.  i havent really tried to fix it, i dont know anything about your config, but i use MALA with the plugin to automatically load maps when you launch a game, on mine,  i'm assuming it is loading an analog map, which is why the trackball games pick up on the joystick input..  so perhaps loading a different map for those games may fix the problem.

of course, if you arent doing it that way, i dont know what may do it.

In MAME it's simple. For each game, select either analog stick or mouse as your prefered control.
