Title: Paranormal Activity 2
Post by: Xiaou2 on October 23, 2010, 01:41:04 am
Paranormal Activity 2

If you like a scary flick, this is one to go see.

The first movie in this series was good for what it was.  It was a bit slow to build up, the acting & especially the dialog was unrealistic / bad.  But it was a psychological trip, and by the end... it really made you jump.

Paranormal Activity 2,  is 100x better, and WAY more intense.  It does not take long before "Activity" gets rockin away.  The acting is better, and the way the family responds is more realistic. (Though, there are some questionable rough spots here and there...but easier to overlook)  The story is good, and the effects are great.

This movie Really 'Rattles' you inside.  Great Fun!   ;D

A great Halloween thrill.  (just dont take the kids to this one!)

I've always found it funny that in real life, ghosts can hurt people all they want, but apparently there's some after-life rule that they can't kill people. ::)

Not sure what you mean?

First off, going by what Ive read / experienced.. theres differences between ghost, demons, poltergeists..etc.

Ghost is a lost soul that is usually oblivious... living in a sort of dream world that repeats over and over again.  Possibly some sort of static echo in time...

Then there are spirits that are actually conscience and responsive...  but pretty much harmless.  Most spirits have no ability to do anything physical.  Only other humans sensitive and open can act as a gateway, giving them enough energy/permission to transfer thoughts, a feint voice, and once in a rare while... to move something light such as rolling a ball. Doing anything physical usually draining them to the point of not being able to do it again for several days or much longer afterwords. (which is why activity usually isnt consecutive)

Poltergeist are said to be angered souls, bent on causing harm.  They can toss objects across the room.  However, its my belief that these are not one spirit... but instead, a team of spirits acting together to make physical things possible.   Even so, I believe these things still need a gateway person to get power in this realm.  Fear is sort of an enabler... because the person who fears, sort of allows them to have power by default. They will believe that the spirits have more power/control than them... and it only gets worse with time.

Demons - Supposedly non-human type spirits.  But Im not so certain about this.  These often do their best to take possession of a living body.  Usually a weak willed person, who is an easy target.  Altering their moods, and forcing their control little by little.

If anyone was killed by a poltergeist...  It would probably be ruled as an accident or seizure. (falling / pushed down stairs)  If it was a Demon, they would probably make the person commit suicide.

Its pretty rare that any occurrences happen to begin with, because most spirits move on to the next realms... where as only a few bitter / confused souls stay behind.  Even then, there usually has to be a gateway person to enable them.  Most people dont believe in such things... and so these things cant exists in their reality (cant manifest).  But fear sometimes gets the better of even the non-believers, and allows a doorway to open.

The people who have experienced things tend not to tell others, unless they are very good friends, and very confident there will be no spilling of the details.  Ive met many people who are trustworthy, who have seen and experiences paranormal things on several occasions.

The worst being my own mother, when she was a child.  Some of those stories confirmed by my moms sister.  They lived in a very messed up house as children.

To date, Ive seen a translucent ghost from 12 ft away in a well lit hallway... as well as 2 large shadow figures running past me in mid-afternoon, in the sun lit appt.

By ghosts, I'm applying that term to all the "paranormal", and will continue to do so in this post.  What I mean is that I find it funny that people say that they are injured by ghosts.  What comes to mind is some fruit saying a ghost basically scratched the length of his chest causing him to bleed.  I've heard of ghosts picking up items and throwing them.  Dragging people around.

OK.  If the ghost wants to do something big, cut the guy's neck open to really make him bleed.  Pick up a kitchen knife and aim for the person's chest if it's going to throw something.  Drag a person out the window if you're going to drag them anywhere.  And make sure to do it for the camera.

I'm none the believer.  I've been in buildings supposedly haunted, and been told by people who said stuff has happened to them.  I've yet to have an "experience".  I've also watched quite a few episodes of the one show that features TAPS, can't remember the name of it.  In all the episodes that I watched (and my wife watched quite a few more) I have yet to see any real evidence of ghosts, yet for some reason, the people are always so enthusiastic about finding it, even when they don't.  I think I saw one episode that they suggested to the owner that they get a specialist to deal with the "ghostly energy" or whatever.  Even then I didn't buy what they had on tape.

I've never believed in them, and never will.  I find them to be a joke.

Just saw it. I"m on the fence. Saw the first one and thought it was pretty inventive.

This was was definitely more of the same, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Certainly some good scares in there, and that's what it's all about.

I just thought it ended quite abruptly and short. As if the production company got told, "Your almost out of money, wrap it up!"

Definitely worth a matinee at any rate.

Whether you love it or hate it may depend entirely on whether or not you like blood and guts, in your face kind of horror, or "mess with your head" type of horror. I'm still for the stuff that "messes with your head" and THIS movie will damn sure do that.  I was in agreement last year that the original was the scariest film I'd ever seen.  I'll scratch that now and put Paranormal Activity 2 in place of it.

As has been stated, for what it was, the first one is an excellent "set up" movie...but apparently the writers were far from done with us (I believe the writing crew is the same?!?).   I've heard of people running from the film because it scared them so bad, but I'd never seen it until last night.  Had a BEAUTIFUL audience to see it with...knew when to laugh and when to sit dead solid still.  I won't give the end away, but I will say this: as we are moving full steam into the finale, a young African-American man, who I did not know, suddenly hollered "Oh HELL no!", jumped up, and RAN for the exit door.  He was gone before anybody could stop him!  :laugh2:  It broke enough of the tension that the rest of us seriously didn't just have minor coronaries.

Got one almost as good as that. Was bringing my child's stuffed penguin in from the car after the movie. Unbeknown to me, she had a whiffle ball wrapped up in the blanket with the penguin (why is beyond me - think it was the penguin's "egg.").  The damn ball fell out of the blanket just as I got to the door, and bounced down our steps....and the thing sounded like footsteps on the cement stairs behind me.  I told my wife, she nearly had to chase me into town screaming "Come back! It's only a whiffle ball!"    :laugh2:

Again, won't give it away, but there are scenes in this film that honestly scared the high hell out of the entire lot of us. See it and enjoy it - you will NOT be disappointed.  Oh, and good look Saw 3D - you're gonna damn sure need it.

 Ohh man thats golden   :laugh2:

There was a group of probably +20yr olds sitting behind me... and when things got harry, a girl in the group got more and more loud / vocal.  At the highpoint, she was like "I want to go now...", and then started to whimper "Mommy!".   I think her friends had to hold her down.   heh

Yah know, in the middle of the 1st movie...  the film stopped suddenly and you could see it melting.  It actually caught on fire!   They had to salvage the thing and re-thread it thru the projector.  Pretty spooky for that to happen at that  time.  Always wondered if that was staged, or just odd coincidence.  heheh

Is it pure evil that my first thought after seeing this movie would be how awesome it would be to put on a mask and jump up in the middle of the audience and scream during the finale?   ;D  You'd have to beat a hasty retreat to the exit before someone beat you down, though.

No, I think you could pull that off pretty well...just sit next to the wheelchair spot so you can have a clear path to the exit  >:D
