Title: Choices for Monitor Replacement
Post by: cpieczonka on October 21, 2010, 08:48:39 pm
I have a makvision 26" (Wei-Ya) flat monitor that is dead.  I am wondering which choices for a replacement the forum users would use for a custom MAME system:

1) new WG 9200
2) new 9400 curved
3) replacement 27" makvision from happ (does anyone know if this is digital swtiching)
4) weiya 27" from xgaming
or
5) the new WG 26" LCD

also could anyone recommend a reputable moitor repair shop

thanks so much in advance

I don't think you will find the first two options available.  I'm looking into using the Wells 26" LCD but can't seem to find any reviews.

You wont find any new WGs unless you get real lucky.

Betson replaced their 4070RT with a VGA/SVGA flatscreen. Only CRTs they carry anymore, from what the parts guy was saying. Not too sure about Makvision, though. Their hi-res might still be in production.

Also, dont trust Betson's website. Not even remotely accurate regarding their monitors.

i expect the makvision and the wei ya are actually the same-if its the 3129 monitor then its not digital but will auto switch frequencies 15/24/31 but not any other
if you find a wei ya 2929 they are digital and auto switch 15/24/31/35/38

i have seen the larger wells lcd panels and they are very good, used to replace rptv's on big dedicated stuff

Ok, Im from Jersey but located in Illinois. I have a 29 inch flat makvision new for sale and a 26 inch. but thats too far for a transaction. When UPS shipped them they bring them in a tractor trailer on a pallet they're so heavy.
