So, I thought I had everything set up for my cab but I added an emulator and it will only rotate vertical games +90 deg. Of course I have my monitor tated -90 deg. I have my reasons for not wanting to rotate the monitor +90 deg, so that is not an option.
I found an old thread about doing a screen flip by reversing the vertical yoke wires, and reversing the horizontal yoke wires. I found this tutorial on making a polarity switch:
http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO%3a-Wire-a-DPDT-rocker-switch-for-reversing-po/step4/Done/ (http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO%3a-Wire-a-DPDT-rocker-switch-for-reversing-po/step4/Done/)
I will have to wire up 4 switches, one for vertical and one for horizontal on the monitor, and one to reverse left and right, and one to reverse up and down on my joystick.
my question is this:
Is it harmful to do this screen flip on a regular basis? because I would be doing it often as I switch from playing Jamma boards to xbox 360 games to my emulator.
I will have to run the yoke wires about 1-1.5 feet longer than they are now so that I can make the switches easily accessible. Is this ok? I know that the resistance of the yoke wires is important, and that increasing the length of the wire will increase resistance (I know this will probably be negligable, but I don't know how sensitive these things are).
Thanks

I've heard of doing the screen flip trick by reversing the wires, but I just wanted to know why you need to reverse the joystick movements as well? I mean, no matter how you're tricking the monitor to display the game like you need, won't your method of input remain unchanged? Or am I missing something completely? ???

hmmmmmmm. You may be right. I think that maybe I was over thinking this. I was thinking that since the screen flip would be done in the Tube, independent of the emulator that the controls would be backwards. This made sense at the time, but now it doesn't...

Maybe you can just stand on your head or lay sideways instead of reversing the wires for the yoke? Lol! I am only kidding!
No... seriously... turn around backwards and use the control panel by reaching behind your butt. ... :laugh2: ...
I HAD to do it... >:D

so long as you do it when the monitor is not powered on, you'll be okay.

Yeah, I have successfully done this. I took a CRT out of a photo machine that had a reverse image because it used a mirror for viewing and switched it around. Installed it in a fast and furious and it's still going.

I cut my yoke wires and flipped them because I had a backwards image as well. Only I forgot to turn the monitor off first... That hurt.
