Hi guys, Im actually not a fellow gamer, but would like to install an arcade pushbutton on my guitar as a killswitch.
I have a few questions for you guys, and although I am aware that this is probably a common topic, I have already looked at a few topics using the search feature and none cover exactly what I have to ask.
First off I need a momentary switch that is N.O (Normally Open) as a killswitch. Do arcade buttons fall under this? I tried to read through their specs to find out to no avail.
Secondly, I would like it to be illuminated, but after browsing GGG I found nothing that would work out as a killswitch. The Electric Ice, NovaGem and ChromaLite are all too long to fit inside a guitar. I'm thinking that I need something similar to the Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons in length. Are there any as short as these that are illuminated? If not I'm willing to just buy a solid one and modify it with LED(s) to glow.
This is the one I had in mind: http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-PS-14-DN-24mm-Pushbutton-White_p_456.html (http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-PS-14-DN-24mm-Pushbutton-White_p_456.html) Would an LED shine through this and look similar to an electric ice button?
I apologize if any of these have been answered or are easy to find, thank you very much for any replies! I'd just like to get my research done before placing any orders.

We will forgive you for not being a gamer ;) lol
A guy on this board named Delusional made an awesome video no how to wire arcade buttons. I believe he demonstrates what you are wanting to do at the beginning of the video.
Here is the video.

Good luck!

A bit bigger at 30mm, but there are translucent ones as well. http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-30mm-KN-Screw-In-Buttons_c_188.html (http://www.lizardlick.com/Seimitsu-30mm-KN-Screw-In-Buttons_c_188.html)
As to the type of switch, the N.O. type is standard on arcade buttons.
With a bright LED you should get some light through the white opaque button as well.

there are 24mm translucent buttons as well.

i haven't tried lighting seimitsu or sanwa buttons, but i know the opaque happ buttons light up fairly well...except for the purple and black ones. i would think that the others would behave in a similar manor.

Good to know the buttons are normally N.O! Thank you
Yea I saw the Translucent ones, although I would like the button to appear normally solid coloured and light up with a toggle switch I will be rigging to the LED powered by a 9v with a resistor. This is why I chose the white opaque one initially (it is being installed on my pickguard which is also white), and I intend to light up coloured blue. As for the LED, I was thinking a 5mm one? Button size, I am still debating between 24mm and 30mm
Do Happ have short buttons as well? If it will guaranteed light up then I wouldnt mind going for that instead.
Also, does anyone know of a guide/the best method to install the LED in the button? Or would it be placed behind the button? I really like the look of the electric ice buttons when they are lit up, I am trying to mimic that.
Thanks you for the replies!
