Title: zinc required spec for good running?
Post by: Marsupial on October 08, 2010, 06:37:55 pm
I can run zinc with my roms great on a P4 @3Ghz
If I install it on an athlon 1800+ it is slow as hell. A cold, frozen hell. Tried to fiddle with video capacity to no avail, its just not ennough processing power.

I saw postings online on other forums old threads from like 3 years ago stating that one was running fine @1.2Ghz, the athlon is technically more than that and just can't cope. would it gain from using something else than internal video? a specific card would help?

what's the minimal spec requirements for zinc to run smooth??

any help welcomed.

Doesn't zinc use d3d or opengl? That's going to make it rather video card dependent. What's in each system?

That's what I am thinking. But I don't have a video card handy to prove the theory.

the athlon has onboard video with little memory

the P4 also uses (better) onboard video. Nevertheless, I don't think those two can really compare, one is twice everything compared to the other...

what I am mainly trying to figure out is if I can manage (with OpenGL video card, likely) to get zinc to play nicely on the athlon 1800+ 512Mb RAM

if anyone has experiences on that, please share.
