Title: Mounting 2 Happ Joysticks.
Post by: Beeman on October 06, 2010, 04:12:13 pm
Hey folks,
I bought 2 competition happ joysticks from GGG and am looking @ mounting them to my control panel. i have a thin sheet metal panel with plexi on top. The Metal is quite thin, 1/8th inch or less.
What type of mounting hardware (bolts/nuts/washers) should i be looking for at the hardware store? Also.. is it possible to mount flush with the metal so its not sticking out of the top?

Thanks for the help guys.

Won't that still have something sticking up past the flat metal? I'm trying to find a way to mount them and keep everything flush with the metal.

you could layout and weld some studs to the underside to hold the stick.... otherwise ur stuck with bolts

not a bad idea. you could find a local machine shop and get that done, wont cost more then 30-50 bucks.

As long as you get smooth heads for the carriage bolts you'll never even notice they're there during gameplay.

I wonder, could you not cut a 1/4 thick sheet to fit, put insert nuts or t nuts in it, then epoxy that to the underside of the CP and mount the stick from below to the wood backer.

I wonder if it'd be strong enough?
