All you guitar lovers talk about your favs here. I'll kick it off by talking about my two gibsons.
My first on I'll talk about is the gibson blueshawk in the picture.

Imagine you like Telecaster thinlines [the semi hollow ones] and then imagine you prefer set necks and angled headstocks with P90 pickups, and that is what it is. Maple top, poplar body, rosewood fingerboard and a mahogany neck is kind of a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- mix of tonewoods, but the end result is pleasing. This guitar isn't rare in the sense that it's worth a lot of money really, I think they were $1200 new, but it is rare in the sense that they weren't really mass produced [and I think only released in north america] and weren't very popular due to us guitar players being stuck up and not trying new things. Only the "kids" will get the really radical guitar styles - this one is slightly different from a les paul but I guess that was enough. I've had this one for about 7 years. It has P90 pickups but they have Alnico magnets instead of ceramic so they aren't as brittle or hot as most p90s. It's also got the BB King "Varitone", basically an adjustable mid boost for popping out some tasty licks that cut through the mix when you need 'em. i.e. solos, endless solos.
And now on to my number one guitar. I got it in 1998, custom made for me by Gibson. Fabulous guitar! It's a flying V but with a les paul neck profile [still has the V headstock though!

The neck joins the body around the 18/19th fret, and there is easy access up to the 22nd. The body is less spread out than your average V so it's not quite as huge. It's mahogany with a set mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, and like all my axes, I throw in an animal print locking strap to seal the cheese in. In the bridge it's got a Classiv 57+, and the neck has your standard classic '57. The pickguard is of course diamond tread, and the tuners are not stock gibson but grover kidneys. Everything is chromed, it has skull knobs, and my name engraved on the pickups. A little egotistical? Some think so... but then again this was a custom made guitar and was made for me. Yes it does have my name onn it!

Awesome. I really wish I had time to play guitar. Haven't touched mine since my kids were born. :'(
I was never that good but I could play along with a lot of CDs I guess (I was never in a band or anything). I have an Epiphone electric and a Yamaha acoustic - nothing fancy but they got the job done for me.

I played a squire strat for 3 hours yesterday because my gibbies were on the other side of the room! You don't need anything fancy to rock! I keep one beside the TV [we don't have cable but do play a lot of vids!] so when the wife is playing her games I can just noodle about and still hang out with her.

I also have an 80's model Olympic strat-style guitar, but have no pics. It was my first guitar.

Amp is an old Sun amp that I can't find via google at the moment. It needs a lot of work.

I play acoustic. I have a Spanish Handmade Dauphin DS-10 1997 Classical Guitar. Its the most beautiful sounding guitar in the world. I use to have an Alvarez 12 string but had to pawn it off a few years back :(. I haven't really played much in years but I use to play all the time. I'll post pics of it soon. Its in a closet right now.
Here is a clip of Canon in D I was working on, I recorded all 4 tracks on the Dauphin. Unfortunately I never finished it.

In fact if anyone knows anything about this guitar please let me know, I know the company went out of business a while back and I can't find any information on it.

I've got a number of acoustic guitars and mandolins laying around but I always play my guild, it's got a tone that rocks my socks. Unfortunately there is a gibson hummingbird on sale at the local music shop that sounds even better.
-
yea I use to play mandolin too, I took it to Iraq with me and I sold it when I left so I wouldnt have to carry it back. I need to get a new one, mandolin is an awesome instrument. I also have a cuatro. Its a mariachi instrument from Puerto Rico, I use to play violin too (sold it too) accordian (gone) trumpet (gone) etc. For about 6 years I was obsessed with getting a new instrument every 5-6 months and learning it.
-
I'm a one-trick pony. Well, I suppose I played trumpet for like 8 years, but really stringed instruments and me get along better than piano or drums. I can get by on drums but that's about it. Gimme strings!!!

lol trumbone.... i was a "tromboner" player in HS too... and i hated it.
I can play guitar hero pretty good (on hard even), any you guys think i could play a real one? If i can play a plastic guitar with 5 notes i should be able to play for real, no? :lol

My cheapie acoustic and my Ibanez electric. I'm just learning to play - but really enjoy picking either up to practise and relax away the stress.

I believe I have the same Ibanez as Ond but with a slightly different finish. I'm only just learning to play guitar, also, but I've played other instruments before. It's a bit frustrating going back to the beginning and learning something from scratch.
-
That's why I love string instruments so much. Things may be different but they're also familiar. What's that saying? If you can't keep it in your pants, at least keep it in the family...

This is as close as I can get to an axe of my own...

I have absolutely no musical talent whatsoever.
;D
-
Talent is really just hours and hours of practice under a thin veneer of nonchalance.

All my exes are psychotic hellions that I rue the day I ever met them. Oh wait. AXES

Nicely spoken!

I really wish I had time to play guitar. Haven't touched mine since my kids were born. :'(
+1 My Gibson Les Paul (cherry sunburst) sits untouched waiting for the day to rock once again.
-
Hey I'm a bit of a gibson fanatic. I once owned a Gibson EDS1275.... so ummm if you want me to hold on to that les paul for you, I don't have one atm.
-
I've got a really nice acoustic/electric Seagull Anniversary Edition S6 (like the one pictured but with electronics...)
And a nice little Squier ShowMaster M80..
Both EXCELLENT guitars for the money!
-
I have a couple of these: ;D

Well if we are talkin' "axes"- mine would be a 1996 Jimmy Vaughn Signature Strat, with a "real" signature on it. I won this from a Fender sweepstakes on AOL back in the day; got to go to the Fender Blues Festival on Catalina Island and Jimmy Vaughn presented me the guitar in person. Decent guitar, and the price was right! I run this thru a old Korg AX30G effects box which I bought new after I won the guitar.
