I have not played either game or any of the previous versions. I would just like for some one to tell me which one is best for me. I don't play online but me and my brothers have three controllers so I am wondering if i can play multiplayer and if so which one has the best offline multiplayer. Also in the story mode can me and my brothers play together. Thank you please answer my question please

interesting first post.
I say neither. Im not a fan of Halo and Im even less of a fan of treyarch studios. Ininity Ward did the good Call of Duty games and Treyarch did the bad ones. If youre playing offline why not just go pick up call of duty 4 for cheap cheap

Of the two I think Reach will have much better offline mutiplayer, both cooperative and various versus modes. It also has a mode that lets you build new maps or edit the standard maps and a theater mode so you can replay campaign missions or multiplayer battles and relive your best kills. The only thing better than putting the smack down on your friends is replaying it from multiple angles afterward.
World at War (the last Treyarch call of duty game) had some really good mutiplayer modes but I'm not sure they're going to be in Black Ops.

I just can't see how halo has been so popular. But I guess it's like popular music, the generic crap seems to be the best selling.

People at cod4boards.com would heartily disagree with you on that, what with all the gamebreaking glitches (Fuel rock will never be fixed) and just terrible ideas. (One Man Army + NoobTube = infinite grenade launcher). I've only played MW2 personally, so I can't give an opinion as to comparisons. That just seems to be the general sentiment there.
If I had to guess, I'd say Halo probably has a better offline setup. CoD series seems to be for the more serious single player online experience. And odd that the new MoH wasn't mentioned, but I'd probably have to stick it in the CoD group.
However, if you're like me, and you tend to prefer games with weapons based on actual weapons (and not a Needler or Covenant Carbine), then I'd go CoD or MoH.

The first one was spectacular. It's been going down since, IMO. But the first installment is why it's so popular.

Just finished reach at a friends house since i personally own a ps3. Have to say it was a disappointment. I mean I loved halo and halo 2 but halo 3 just to me was horrible. So i thought reach would be better but i didnt like the campaign and the online play has not changed much from when i played halo 2.
Mw2 was a great game to me except the constant glitch and noob tubing people love to do. The Nuke is kinda pointless to since it just ends the game and people camp for it the whole time. But the online play is alot better since its newer weapons and alot more game play.

Loved Halo 2, but hated Halo 3?
Halo 2 is the absolute worst Halo in the entire series.
It was a half assed incoherent story, with some bs deus ex machina storyline involving the plant from "Little Shop of Horrors", and one of the crappiest endings in all of video gaming.

What I loved about Halo was the story, because every FPS boils down to the same kind of multiplayer death match. Camping, sniping etc. Halo 3 ended the series in god awful fashion. I was super bummed about the ending. I sold all my copies of Halo in favor of Modern Warfare. Those stories were AWESOME and the missions were great. The multiplayer is great too, because there is incentive to keep playing. There was good closure at the end.
Dont get me wrong, I was obsessed with the first halo, co op, everything was great, Halo 2 wasnt bad, had some innovative things, and Halo 3 was just eye candy. I was so pissed at the ending.
I dont even know if ODST or Reach even have stories...

But he did ask about offline multi, so it still applies.
Soooo many glitches in that game. I still love to play it, but it is rather amazing how much stuff is glitched, (and how much was glitched and then actually fixed thankfully, like javelin glitch and infinite care package glitch.)

yeah but he can punch his friend if he tries that BS in the same room :)
