I may have found the cocktail cab I've been looking for. It's the Midway style (Ms Pac Man, Galaga). It appears by the pictures that the monitor is mounted horizontally for whatever game was put in after the fact. Is this an easy swap back? Was this likely a hack? I can't tell for sure that it's a Ms Pac Man cab but I only know of a few games that use that cab and all were vertical. Thanks.
Ed.

In my Upright cab, I can flip the monitor mounting to be either Vert or Horiz. But in a Cocktail style cab, I doubt there is room for flipping monitor (unless it's is a smaller crt from the original). What changes is where the CP is placed. If it Horiz, they would make the CP on front, but if it is Cocktail, it will be on the ends.

After a little research I'm pretty sure this was a Rally X which has a horizontal monitor. Has anyone tried changing the mount to vertical on a rally x for MAME or another game?

Ed,
Depending on how much the midway style cab is going to cost you, it may be worth your while to build a 3 way cab from scratch using a kit. You then have the best of both worlds (horiz and vert), theres no need to keep filpping the monitor, and you can also play 2-player side by side games such as the street fighters etc). I've built a few for my friends who were considering converting an old cocktail cab.

I want to make this cab specifically for vertical 4 way 1 button games. I have an upright cab already with a 27" monitor and U360's. I want this to look just like a classic Ms Pac Man or Galaga when it's done but with one button. I know the monitor mounts on the hinged side, I'm hoping it can be easily converted permanently. Thanks.

If it is mounted on the hinged portion the screen is attached to the part that pivots out. If the existing frame on the monitor is mounted on its side to give you a horizontal display then the frame can probably be used to mount the monitor vertically. This is based on the premise that they did not make a different frame to mount the monitor horiz. In most cocktails of this type the monitor is vertical but the frame attaches to the pivoting side panel with a regular horizontal mount.

I got a chance today to really take a good look at this thing. The frame is attached to the part that swings out but the frame is oriented different. here are a couple pics.

The frame is oriented differently than the pics here

I haven't pulled the monitor yet but it seems like I'm gonna need a different monitor or at the very least a different frame. Any ideas?

Looks like they did make a different frame for the vertical mount. You maybe able to adapt it depending on what parts you can support it horizontally with.

Well, I found this.

Not exactly what I was hoping. I suppose with a new frame and a little routing this isn't the end of the world.

my cocktail i have vertical games set as split screen, and my horiz rotated. Idk cheap way i guess

Or you could make a rotating monitor (",)
