I was on the ferry yesterday from Horseshoe Bay [north vancouver] to Nanaimo [Vancouver Island] when I happened to walk past the arcade. Usually I don't bother, because it's generally a Vewlix with Tekken, some 2 player cockpit racing game with one working side, an all-in-one with a trackball that doesn't work, and a Gauntlet Legends that isn't working.
Well yesterday was a different story.
Mario Kart [2 player cockpit! Never saw that before!], A 2-player Time Crisis with the guns replaced with electrical junction boxes [soooooo lame and totally unplayable], Guitar Hero Arcade, Hydro Thunder, and a few others.
I noticed after the fact that the roof tiles leading from the exterior door to the arcade room were all busted up. Following the trail of destruction, it seems that the Guitar Hero cabinet was a tight fit! These new arcade games were a perfect escape from the old people telling me about their son who also plays guitar [talking to me while I was trying to sleep].

It's been so long since I've had a great ferry ride because of the crappy new arcades...
I really only ride from Tswassawaswassen to Swartz Bay.....and 15 years ago it was the best! Pinballs (I think Tales From the Crypt made an appearance), 4 player Simpsons and X-Men....It didn't matter that those boats shuddered and listed 90 degrees cause the arcade made it all better, good times ;)
Now I just look forward to getting raped $4 for a minibag of Doritos :burgerking:

I remember about 15-20 years ago [like when I was 8-13 years old] the tsawwassen to vic ferry had little seating up front and it was all arcade games. Those were the days! Now the re-purposed closets [or do I mean the "Game Zone"?] has more real estate taken up by the change machine than the games.

Wouldn't a boat ride shake too much to make pinball playable?

Not really, these are massive ships....not that it would have mattered much being like 10 years old :)

lol imagine how lame that would sound to a kid if his/her parents were all like "I won't give you a quarter because the ship's rocking will throw you off your game!"
I have been seasick on a bc ferries boat before. And no, it wasn't the food... but that'll do it too. There are times when it gets really rocky.
