Hi, everyone! I am new to theses message boards and would like to ask some of you experts what I should do with my pre-built cabinet.
The cabinet I have wasn't specifically designed for arcade games, it was one of those upright jackpot machines. However, it still somewhat fits the profile of an arcade cabinet.
The only problem I am having is that I have bought an X-Arcade Dual-Joystick controller, and it seems to be a little bit too big for the cabinet :(
So my question to you is, What should I do to make this cabinet fit my specific needs
P.S. This is going to be a MAME cab and I will be running either Maximus Arcade or Hyperspin if that helps any!

Post some pictures of the cabinet.

Fitting a x arcade control panel to a cab usually involves cutting the CP area of the original cab and the addition of supports or a cutout area where the x arcade control panel can reside. Post some pics of the cab and we will be better able to suggest the best way to go.

dismount the x-arcade and make your own CP. You'll be glad you did.
the controls are great, but having the x-arcade on an existing cabinet always look like you mashed up two things that don't belong together...
I personally have a japanese cabaret cab that was intended for quizz games and I am in the process of converting it to an arcade cabinet. I'll just put controls on the current panel after alterations.

I will post some pictures soon. I would love to build my own CP, but my dad is helping me build this, and he says we aren't skilled enough to do woodwork, hints the pre-built cab

Yeah, I wasn't skilled ennough for woodworking, neither any of the guys on this forum prior to making their first. You know, until you try, you're never skilled ennough.

as said above,
plz take apart the xarcade if anything, when people just throw the xarcade on the cab it looks really bad.
Without seeing the cab i say take apart the xarcade and make a new control panel.

Aren't skilled enough?
No offense but I cant believe your pops would discourage you from learning from and trying a "skilled" wood working project. As said, most people on this board (including myself) aren't exactly skilled craftsmen. As a matter of fact, I'm in hte same boat as you! I have a cabinet waiting to be restored and I plan to build my own. I still come here every day trying to learn more about woodworking and building, but I'm very confident once I start, I'll be good. When you have the passion to do something, you research, teach yourself, and do it. That is why you're here friend!
I'm also proposing you to forget those X-Arcades and build your own controls. Look around this forum and study what others have successfully done. With the proper tools and a good understanding I think anyone can see it. Depending on the type of cab you have, I bet putting together your own panel would be a piece of cake. Best of y'all it would be your controls the way you want!
