Hi! I am looking for the Sega MegaDrive/Genesis 4x Multitap schematics....any chance?
-
Wow, I haven't thought of those in years.
I may be wrong, but I might have one archived deep deep deep inside one of my old hard drives. I don't think it's the schematic though, I think it's the signal input/ouput tables and a chip description. Let me see if I can find it.
IIRC, it's really just a multiplexer that stages the signals from the four controllers into the Genesis. I think this was why it doesn't work correctly with the six button controller and why some games require their own multitap (different multiplexing).

What do you need it for? Are you looking for a particular multitap or just any model?
-
I just got the game "Wimbledon", and there is a picture of a 4-Port Multitap on the case. I have a retrogamer-meeting next month, and we want to play that game in 4-player-mode

:P
Wow... yeah... PBJ is right. This isn't a circuit that just anyone can build and debug in a short time.. Well, not with my own skills. You might have a better grip on EE. Probably better to buy one off of eBay and use that.
In any case, http://www.raphnet.net/divers/genesis_multitaps/index_en.php (http://www.raphnet.net/divers/genesis_multitaps/index_en.php) is where I think the document came from. There's a picture of just how convoluted one of these multitaps is.

You may want to ask around on the Sega-16 message boards - lots of technical people well versed in all things Sega over there.

Thanks for the picture. Didn't know they used ASICs for those...but if anyone could provide me with informations, how these multitaps are working, i can try to implement that in TTL or program a µC.

Where is that?
