Ok so I got a dude who is selling a T2 arcade cabinet for 150 bucks. It looks like its in good shape, havent seen it yet aside from the CL ad but he said that the monitor doesnt turn on. If its a monitor issue, worst case scenario replacing it, is it a huge PITA to do so considering its a gun game? I have NO CLUE how to work on a gun game. Hell Im barely getting my other MAME cab together lol.
Sooo... Think I should get it? I have a spare 25 monitor so if I do need to replace it I can, but I dont know what else to do regarding the guns etc... :dunno

T2 is not really a "gun game". The guns are just big joysticks with a twist feature. The monitor is likely a Wells Gardner K7000...
The monitor around the middle of the can facing upwards... chances are it can be fixed with a cap kit... and possibly a flyback. $150 is a decent price for a T2 with non-working monitor. I sold my working T2 for $400 recently.
There is no difference between that games monitor and any other standard res games monitor...

Oh cool... gotcha. Anything specific I should look for when I go look at it? Condition of the guns!? Anything?! Well other than the obvious stuff like wear etc..

+1 to Frizz's post
As a general rule, if you feel the need to post, you shouldn't feel the need to buy. There is no rush. Broken cabinets are easy to come by.

I suppose thats true, but in my neck of the woods, cabinets are not really HARD to come by, per se, they just dont come up often if that makes sense. I appreciate the input though guys thanks!

what CheffoJeffo meant to say is... if you are unsure about it, then it might not be a good deal for you. Point.
I tend to agree. When I got my cabs, I didn't think twice, wouldn't have posted asking about them. The deal was good for me. If the deal is somewhat uncertain, then... where's the deal?
Good occasions will arise.

EVERYBODY says that when they start out ... just ask Frizz ... and he lives in Bumblefloober, unlike you.
He used to say that he couldn't find cabinets and has become the best example of how easy it is to find them if you show a little patience and get dialed in.
But nobody believes me until/unless they take the time.

When youre right, youre right. I am a noobie so when I see stuff that I want Im like "NO WAY SHOULD I BUY IT?!?!" :lol Thanks for taking the time to give me some advice. Besides, it was like an hour drive to go look at it/buy it. I was reallly lazy yesterday and that deterred me from doing it.

Things to check for in a T2:
Does it "play blind"? When you coin it up, does it sound like it's working?
Do the guns work? By that I mean do they "kick" as they are supposed to (there is a solenoid in each gun providing a kicking feedback)? Are they missing screws (they ALL are it seems)?
Are the flashing "hit" lamps working? Chances are they are not as the vast majority of people have no clue there are multiple lamps behind the half silvered mirror that are supposed to flash when you get "hit"....

Agreed with Fried on the above. Though with no monitor you will struggle- upon power up after being unplugged for a while or with CMOS probs you will get an error 'Unable to read gun calibration values' etc.
My $0.02: don't do it. Besides, it's replay value is zero IMO.

Yeah, I didnt end up getting it. My laziness got the best of me, it was a far drive so I shined it.
Oh yeah? Its one of those games that I played when I was a kid that I knew I could NEVER beat it cause I wouldnt be able to afford it. It was designed just to eat quarters a la Metal Slug. Thats partly why I wanted to get it though, I suppose I could get the SNES version, just doesnt seem as cool without the guns.

You could just get a few Aim Tracks and play it with MAME:
AimTrak with Terminator 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69VLGFJZEVE#)
Save yourself a few quarters ;D

Holy ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- that looks great!
So how do these Aimtrak things work? Is there a wiki on it that I can read?
Thanks for the info!!!
