Title: Dell Mini 9 monitor
Post by: jimmy2x2x on September 08, 2010, 05:14:21 pm
Im thinking about removing it from the netbook body and using it in a bartop project (with the mini 9 driving it)

Anyone had any experience with it?

Thanks

A lot of the little LCD monitors hooked to laptops use proprietary connectors.  You'd probably be better off going with one of those small LCD displays with an SVIDEO or VGA input.

You'll be limited by how long the flex tail is that connects the monitor to the mainboard.  Chances are it's pretty short.

There are some standard connectors (with various pinouts, but you don't care in this case), and if the Mini 9 uses one,  you could get a longer cable.  Signal integrity concerns on the LVDS will limit you to about 10" on a flex tail or 18-24" on twisted pair.  The cable won't be cheap at all (think $50+) in small quantity.
