Title: How to apply new CPO
Post by: releasedtruth on September 08, 2010, 11:01:34 am
Okay guys, here goes. I currently have a control panel that is composed of 1/2" plywood, floating lammed overlay, then 1/8" plexi, but I'd like to have the artwork (new adhesive art) on top instead and eliminate the plexi look, but there's a catch.

My CP sits into a slot that is 5/8" deep so I cannot just adhere on top of the ply nor can I really shim out underneath due to the way it's set up. Any more than 1/8" thick and it'll stick out above the level of the slot. I thought about putting the plexi on the bottom to furr out the depth, good idea?

Second, how does everyone get their holes and so forth lined up for an adhesive CPO? Seems like pretty tight tolerances and a good chance of missing the mark. Any vids on application? Thanks

GT

Looks like I'll poly the plywood top, then cut the button holes, line up, drop a few buttons in and apply from a center strip outwards. Should work well, but the art has tight tolerances.

For the poly, can I use a spray or should I roll on a few coats? First time with adhesive CPO

I've just used wipe on poly and it is easy to work with and there is no brush clean up to deal with.
