Title: LCD trim?

Was wondering what you wonderful folks were using for trim around your LCD monitors. I know some people are restoring old cabs or cloning old cabs and use bezels, usually of plexi. However, I've seen some modern style cabs (Vewlix clones, Naomi clones) with no bezels. And somehow these cabinets still look authentic and very clean. I want my cab to look as modern and as sleek as possible so I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you!



P.S. My cab will be a Delta clone with a Capcom theme. Will add information to the project page after I get started.

maybe if you posted a pic or two of the cabinets in question, we could shed more light on the subject.  i have found that masking the screen area and spray painting the back side of the monitor glass/plexi looks really nice.

Well, they don't use plexi or traditional bezels. They just put black trim around to make it look clean. However, most don't use plexi or any protective layer to protect the LCD screen. Since it's for home use, doesn't really need plexi cover anyway.

The Delta 32 cab I want to copy. Although I'm not doing the dual screens.

Note: Most are Vewlix clones. I really like the Vewlix but it's been done to death. I've also PM'd these people to see what they used for the LCD trim.

Black paint.

i mount the monitor flush with where the glass sits. then i just paint the backside of the glass with black paint and it looks great.

i put the glass in, mask off the monitor display area, and then paint it. When i turn the glass around the paint and the monitor glass blend together since there is no edge on the viewing surface...

BTW: this is a 26" widescreen

I was trying to avoid glass or plexi, but it does look very clean. Might go that route just because it will give the final product a more professional finish.
