Over the weekend I picked up a working Roadblasters cabinet for $50.00. I never seem to find cheap cabs in the DFW area, so I immediately jumped on this buy. I figured if anything the Roadblasters board and controls were definitely worth $50.
Now that I have the cabinet in my house and have been looking it over... I'm not sure what I want to do with this. The game works, the monitor appears to have burn in from a Galaga machine. The monitor takes about a minute to warm up and get the picture, the screen flickers a little during play but is not game hindering and the colors look nice and bright. I'm not sure how to fix these minor problems... I'm sure the monitor could benefit from a cap kit, but I have no experience with monitors like this.
The cabinet on the other hand isn't in the best shape. The pedal wood is broken off, but works, and would be an easy repair/replace. The rest of the cabinet is just painted black, no artwork. As you can see below the control panel doesn't sit right and there is a little bit of a gap between it and the wood below it. There are lots of areas that need to be bondo'd, sanded and re-painted.
I'm just not quite sure what direction to take with this cabinet. I do like the game and my kids LOVE driving games.

Any suggestions?

That's a tough call. Roadblasters is definitely a bit of an icon for some, but this one could be a bit of a restore project if you want to take it on. Personally, I wouldn't hold onto it if there are other cabs you'd like to have at your place instead.

Can the yoke type steering wheel be used for the Star Wars game? :dunno

I'm biased because Road Blasters is one of my "holy grail" cabinets. Sounds like you can easily swap RB out for other games. I really like what FrizzleFried did with his similar cabinet.

That was my first thought as well. Unfortunately, it's not the same type of controller. The Roadblasters one is just left right/movement with no up/down movement like the Start Wars one. I was hoping to save $150 and not have to purchase a RAM controller. Oh well...

Hmm, that's not bad at all. I wonder where the Atari side art was found... Converting to a Marble Madness cabinet would be nice as well, but I'd definitely keep the Roadblasters. I wouldn't mind doing a multi and have both the Marble Madness setup and Roadblasters and just swap out the control panels.
