Title: How to poewr the light bulb on my Happ Track Ball?
Post by: shateredsoul on September 02, 2010, 08:25:59 pm: Sooo my trackball has a lightbulb underneath, how do I light it? Is there any best way? Is there a way to light it via usb?

Post by: drventure on September 03, 2010, 12:11:43 am: If you want to go usb, I picked up a couple of these USB snake lights for dirt cheap and used them.

They're very bright and pretty much the easiest thing you can do to light a trackball.

Although, hooking up 12v isn't terribly difficult either.

Post by: surface tension on September 03, 2010, 02:46:28 am: I'm not aware of any official Happ illuminated trackballs, so where did the illumination kit come from... or is it really just a bulb poking through the hole? Did it not come with instructions?

By far the cheapest and easiest way to illuminate Happ trackballs is an LED and a resistor, connected to the 5V on the control board.

See, there's the problem. You will need to connect the light to power to get anything visible out.

Run a wire from one of the "hard drive" molex connectors from your power supply to the lamp... you want yellow and black I do believe (12v).
