Title: Any sites that have game sprites?

Is there any site out there that has pixel images (sprites) available?  And just the sprites?

I did find this small site as an example:

example from this site.  It is a transparent GIF so everything around Mario is actually transparent.  This is exactly the kind of thing I am looking for:

Why?  I'm thinking of doing the CP as a Where's waldo theme.  But no waldo.  Just like 1000 different characters/objects from various games.
